Hi Rianne,

I talked with the SS worker and he didn't know anyone out there. He said the Air Force usually uses JAG. The army has many non-citizen soldiers and also people who marry non-citizens so they have many immigration workers. So sorry we couldn't help with that. But there is always the hotline.

Thank you so much for your help!

I really hope you get approved soon and I hope we all get approved soon!

I saw that they are working at the last part of march, so guess we also need patience.

Just wondering, is that helpline only for USCIS? Or also for NVC? Or NVC don't have a military helpline?

Well take care!

Have a nice week!

Ri

Hm I'm not quite sure about his situation. Is he in the US now? I'm stationed on an army post and we have a social services worker who is designated to deal with immigration. He does immigration of spouses, family members, and also naturalization. He is really good and on point. He helped me with my papers but he wanted me to file K-3 and my husband and I were against that. You know many people don't know how to handle immigration well so they always refer people to JAG as a legal issue. Do you know the name of his base? Maybe my social services worker has some contacts in that area.

When I called I talked to a woman who was very kind and friendly. Unlike the robots I got by calling the regular hotline. She asked me a few questions and told me she would send in my service request to CSC. I think it takes about 5 days to hear back from them. In some cases I heard people just fax them a copy of their military id, a letter from the commander, or deployment orders. Just one of them and in other cases I heard where they didn't ask for anything. Once I find out about my situation I'll let you know.

Hey! Thank you!

Hihi...maybe you will be good as military helpline of the USCIS ;-) Because you give an answer very quick! LOL! Well you are working as an office worker...maybe thats why ;-) LOL!You are right those people can act like robots and sooooooooooooo unfriendly!

We did put a copy of our military ID's with the I-130...so hopefully that helps!...

Well we don't have deployment letters, i know that can make the process faster. but i am happy he is home in the USA ;-)

Yes my husband is in the US. Its the Edward Airforce base in CA.

I know where that base is at, I pass it everytime going to my folks house in coast of Cali, last year I missed the shuttle landing by 30 minutes when it landed there instead of Florida. It is pretty desolate out there, in middle of nowhere. Anyway good luck in the journey.

Hey Wow! That is funny that you know where it is while the VS is so huge! ;-)

Yep it is in the middle of nowhere, desert but well, its the way it is!

My husband missed that shuttle too because he was somwhere else at that time, really to bad.

Hope your journey goes well too! Good luck!

Can't go fast enough isn't it?

I checked the USCIS website but they are working on it so i couldn't check our case, well i do it almost every day, how silly because i asked for automatic answer by email but well...Guess a lot of people do that!

Take Care!

USCIS Updates Information on FY2010 H-1B Petition Filings

WASHINGTON—U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) today announced information on the number of filings for H-1B petitions for the fiscal year 2010 program.

USCIS has received approximately 45,500 H-1B petitions counting toward the Congressionally-mandated 65,000 cap. The agency continues to accept petitions subject to the general cap.

Additionally, the agency has received approximately 20,000 petitions for aliens with advanced degrees; however, we continue to accept advanced degree petitions since experience has shown that not all petitions received are approvable. Congress mandated that the first 20,000 of these types of petitions are exempt from any fiscal year cap on available H-1B visas.

For cases filed for premium processing during the initial five-day filing window, the 15-day premium processing period began April 7. For cases filed for premium processing after the filing window, the premium processing period begins on the date USCIS takes physical possession of the petition.

USCIS will provide regular updates on the processing of FY2010 H-1B petitions. The updates can be found on the USCIS Web site at www.uscis.gov/h-1b_count.

Yep. I'd pay for premium processing...but I guess that's just for businesses...

Hopefully since those 15 days are up (and the next 15 days) they'll get back to our petty family-reunification immigration petitions.

Count Me (Rusty) and my wife Maryjane (Jen) in with the april filers!! Wow i hope to learn more about this here - am sure glad i found this site. I have not had the best of luck - i started chatting with Jen in July of 2008 - visited her in Gingoog City Philippines in September 2008, went back and had a civil marriage on November 30, 2008. I had read somewhere (I know I did) that i needed an NSO sealed copy of our marriage certificate before i could file for our K3 visa but apparetnly that was wrong so anyway it put me off for several months which i really hate. But i was back in February to see my wonderful asawa and now I sent in the I129 App on April 12, it was received April 16, 2009 and i received the NOA1 approximately a week later but the notice date says April 21, 2009.

But i have a question for you guys out there!!!! Although my wife and I are already married of course her birth certificate has her marked as a male in error. WOWWW -- the philippines - go figure. Anyway we inquired what it would take to correct it and she will have to file a gender change petition and have it heard in court. The cheapest fee i have been quoted by an attorney in CDO was $400US. Do you think this will have to be corrected or since we are already married and they didnt do anything about it are we okay you think??

As I mentioned before, last week I called and the officer said that due to the work visas expect USCIS not to do anything until close to or after the 6 months. I have stopped thinking about it when he told me that and I am only expecting them to approve the I-130 6 months from the time I got the NOA1. The more you think about it the longer you feel its taking.

No, I would suggest changing it quickly.

uhmmm... try typing Philippine Bar Association in google... they have referral service there. Your wife can call and ask to lower the price.

But USD400 seems fair to me that's around Php20,000... not bad. Acceptance fee is right around that amount too for some cases.

Crazy work visa's isn't it?

Heh, I saw your timeline and saw that based on timeline on VJ your petition will be adjudicated between June 26 and July...uhm i forgot.

By me it is saying will be adjudicated between June 26 and July 5, isn't that strange? I mean does VJ know more as us?

Well hope they are right! But i moved a whole month!

Take care, hope they will be approved soon! I am happy you got touched!

My husband is trying to call that helpline this week, but he is busy on the base with an inspection...so no time yet...urgh...need patience!
