We finally got our K3 interview date (3 weeks after approval) and it is May 28 (nearly 2 months away !). We were mentally prepared for a long wait for approval but never thought it would take another 2 1/2 months just to get to the interview (and this is with K3). We are wondering if we should start pursuing the CR-1 with a hope of switching our interview date from K3 to CR-1. If we end up not being able to do that (and decide to go for K3 anyway), what would we lose ? Would any of the stuff we do with NVC for CR-1 be useful for our eventual AOS ?

07/06/09 - USCIS received (date on NOA1)

07/13/09 - NOA1 received for both I-485 and I-765 !

08/08/09 - Biometric appointment

08/25/09 - AOS interview letter notice date

Hey Seren,

NO, the I-134 DOES NOT need to be notorized...since you officially closed last weeks thread :P

RooDee.

That is disappointing. I think you should persue the CR1, you now have plenty of time.

Good Luck

If you were lucky and got an approval and reunion with your loved one rather quickly; Please refrain from telling people who waited 6+ months just to get out of a service center to "chill out" or to "stop whining" It's insensitive, and unecessary. Once you walk a mile in their shoes you will understand and be heard.

Thanks!

Thanks Y's Habibitk :) how many days to interview?

RooDEE....No harm in persuing CR1 that way you have a couple of options.

I am hoping for a case complete in next 10 days and looking fwd to see if NVC will schedule an IR1 interview

You would lose $470 if you puruse the CR-1 and do not complete that process. You won't be able to complete NVC by the time May interviews are scheduled late this week and next week. So if you pursue the CR-1 you have until the first week of May to complete NVC, and obtain a June interview date. Since your K-3 is late in May, you have a strong chance of being able to flip the K-3 to CR-1. Whatever you submit to NVC will basically be for waste if you don't commit to the CR-1. Also, if you decide to go with the CR-1, NVC will require original MC and BC, so make sure you have extra certified copies. You have a couple of days to make your decision, since you can submit the Agent of Choice to NVC, and make sure the AOS and IV Fee Bills get generated, and then once you decide which path you want to take pay the bills or ignore the bills.

queuedup and Lisa, Thanks VJ friends!

Yeah, its feel really good now! Is anyone here known if I can enter to GUAM and apply for SSN there? We plan to stay there some months before back to the mainland again, because of my husbands work.

Its your time soon too...... I cross my fingers for a good April month.

If you are not a U.S. citizen, Social Security must see your current U.S. immigration documents. Acceptable documents from the Department of Homeland Security include your:

Form I-551 (includes machine-readable immigrant visa with your unexpired foreign passport);

I-94 with your unexpired foreign passport; or

Work permit card (I-766 or I-688B).

I dont know if that helps at all

But, the last link should at least have some contact info where you can ask the appropriate entity.

:)
