 So Me and my fiance are engaged. We both filled out all the required paperwork for the I-129F package. Now for me being in the military, I got the entire package ready to be sent in. But, my fiance needed to get a copy of her passport photo. So before I got deployed, I sent her the I-129F package. She put the color photo copy of her passport in with the I-129F package and sent it off to USCIS in california to be processed. She mailed it off by January 29th, 2009. She tracked the mail and it arrived there somewhere around the 7th or 8th of FEB 2009. My fiance lives in Japan. So my question is that, will there be something wrong if she sent it from japan to california? I put my address on the form so that the NOA1 will arrive in my mailbox in hawaii if everything goes well. It has been 3 months with no word on USCIS. Is their something wrong with my package? Or is it the processing time? I wont get back to hawaii until late this april to find out if i received a NOA1 or not. But my fiance has been reading online that people are receiving their NOA1 and NOA2's after we sent our I-129F package in. So i'm assuming that their is something wrong with our paperwork. It just pains me because I dont know whats going on. :crying: I'm praying that everything is good with our paperwork. I made 100% sure that our paperwork was ready to go with no errors. -sigh- Any feedback on this would be greatly appreciated.

How do you know you havn't heard word from USCIS? Is someone monitoring your mail at home?

You can call USCIS to get your case number and they can tell you if they've approved your petition (which is possible, looking at the recent timelines in California). If they have approved it, it would probably take at least a month to get through NVC to the Consulate in Japan, which is then when your fiancee would hear anything at all (they'll send you a letter, referred to as Packet 3). So there could be absolutely nothing wrong.

I'm confused as well. If you arent home to see if you got your NOA1 how do you know that you dont have your NOA1 and that there is something wrong? She wouldn't get any notice, just you. Is there something I missed?

How did you pay for the petition? Check? trace the payment.

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.

WARNING: Phrases in this post may sound meaner than they were intended to be. Read the Adjudicator's Field Manual from USCIS

@@@ Confused sailor...

You stated here that you are deployed, call the military liasion in the USCIS to expedite your case so you can be a priority. All you need is an order states that you are deploying downrange. That will make it easier for you and your fiancee to process your paperwork/case.

 I just PCS'ed to Pearl Harbor. HI from Yokosuka, Japan. So I dont have no one to check my mail. I have this security at my building so no one can actually get into my apartment complex without a electronic key. Right now, My unit is on their way back to Pearl Harbor. I will try to call the USCIS/NVC to see if I have anything wrong. I always presumed that, if you get your NOA1, you will receive your NOA2 maybe like 2 months after that? Is that wrong? I'm new to all this marriage stuff and timelines.

I want to thank you all for all the feedback. It really helps me out alot.

If you fill out your timeline we can help a bit more. Right now it depends on where you filed. I assume with CSC if you are in Hawaii. If thats the case the NOA2 can be any time from 31 days to a few months currently, but if she says it got there in feb, you could be hearing back on your NOA2 any time. However this too would be mailed to your address, she wouldn't hear anything until her consulate has sent her the packet 3. I wouldnt panic that something went wrong, but call USCIS and see if they can give you a receipt number as that would be on your NOA1 which is probably sitting in your mail box atm, with no one to check it to say that its there for you. From your original post it sounds like she is concerned that you haven't recieved any information, which you may have but cant check it. Even with knowing your NOA1 reciept number it will probably not tell you anything useful on the USCIS website or on the phone about where exactly your case is processing wise. The approvals dont always go in order due to things like background checks and the complexity of the case (divorced vs never married, kids included etc), so I would tell her not to panic if people are getting it ahead of her yet as the NOA2 wouldn't be until maybe the 10th of Feb if it just arrived at CSC on the 8th of Feb. Thats only just coming up on 60 days, and right now VJ is showing 80-some days expected for approvals. Hope this helps a bit more!
