Lets assume I travel to Ukraine and meet a girl and marry her

Now I my questions:

1- After marrying her can I just apply for K3 visa so she can travel to the US? Only K3 not green card(i-485)

If yes, what forms do I need to complete??

2- After she arrives in the US how long can she stay before I apply for green card for her? Is there a time limit?

How long can I wait before doing the i485 and i864

Thank you

1. After marriage she can not just travel with you. You can apply K-3 visa for her which will take approx. 6-months but depends on individual case.

2. After she arrive here on K-3 visa (valid for 2-years), you can file “Adjustment of Status” for her.

Question #3

When do you have to do the i-864 form, Affidavit of Support ?

When she goes to the embassy for her interview for K3? OR when I do the i-485 for for green card after she arrives in the US?

If you'll study the guides, this is all layed out for you. When you do, you'll probably conclude the K3 is a poor option and just follow the CR1 route. Start by clicking on the word "Guides" at the top of any page here.

I understand CR1 route is a better option for most

but I would like to live with her in the US for 2-3 months before doing the -485 and i864

That is why I posted this

With a CR1 there IS no I-485 but if what you are saying is you don't want to submit a binding I-864 until after she has been here a while, the K3 gives you two years to play with. If you wait more than a year after visa issue, she'll need a new medical.

For K-3 (non-immigrant visa) beneficiary bring affidavit of support (form I-134) at the time of interview. K-3 visa issued for 2-years and you can extend it before K-3 visa expire by filing I-539 form.

I-864 form is for CR1/IR1 (immigrant visa) petition.

I-864 form is for CR1/IR1 (immigrant visa) petition.

I-864 is not part of an immigrant visa petition, ever. Part of the process, yes, the petition, no.

K3 petitioners provide the I-864 after US entry when the beneficiary files to adjust status. I-864 is needed for any immigrant being sponsored, at some point before a green card is in hand.
