Hey, thenks to all who reads, helps me, and answers this question. I am US citizen, married my wife in India (Anand, Gujarat). Our I-130 is approved and received website link www.immigrantvisas.state.gov from NVC after IV and AOS fee shows PAID. The link requests her police clearance certifiate to be submitted at NVC before further processing can occur.

Her passport is in her maiden name (father's middle name) and so are all her I-130 papers. But officials in India are asking her to change her passport name to her married husband name and reissue passport before PCC can be issued. Is that true? Does she need to change the name in passport? If she changes, will it cause any problems later as all her I-130 and NVC letters are in her father's middle name?

Also, regional passport office has their own police clearance application form 2 with Rs. 300 fee. Can she not just go to Ahmedabad passport office and fill this form? WIll they issue her PCC that way? Her passport in maiden name is still valid till 2017. Or does she need to go to district commisioner office in Anand before passport office? What are the options?

Please help. We are only missing PCC. That's the only document NVC is requesting after which our file at NVC will be case complete.

Thanks for help.

They can make a request as it happen in our case but it is up to us to decide for future convenience. Later they gave us clearance without any name change on passport.

Can you please share how you obtained police clearance certificate from passport office? Did your relative directly go to passport office and filled the form OR did you have go through and obtain clearnaces (NOCs) from district police station before approaching passport office? Thanks for the reply and help. I really appreciate it.

if yr wife's passport is not older than 6 months than no need of clearance... if its older than 6 months then you can visit the passport office which has issued yr passport.

you need to fill up one form the i dont know the number but on top its written MINISTRY OF EXTERNAL AFFAIRS....

along with form you have to submit several documents like certified/notorised copies of yr passport and photographs.

you can request them to give clearance with maiden name only becoz yr visa process started with the passport with maiden name. dont try to change maiden name now.....

go to passport office directly and fill up above mentioned form ,,,, and some additional docs like yr marriage certi. original and copies(notorise) a cop of DS-230 part one (if in case they ask for those show them the other name used column in DS 230 ) if necessar and if they ask write one application tht yr wife is staying with her parents only as you are in USA and so you need passport clearance with maiden name only... pa 300 rs. as fees. the will take yr form and papers along with passport and will post to you in 5-6 business days along with yr clearance

request them first and if necessary be tough with them, as thr r lots of people complaining abt ahmedabad office, the are creating problems ...

Thanks to all for the help.

She went to the RPO and they are saying that she has to change her maiden name from her middle father's name to my middle name. then only she can apply for police clearance. I don't understand why they can't issue PCC under her current passport which is still valid until 2017.

I have all her affidavit of support I 864 papers ready and all required DS 230 immigration paper ready except for PCC. What should I do? Should I go ahead and mail all papers to NVC? Or should I wait for PCC to come before I submit everything to NVC? What's best option for me. Someone please advice. I DO NOT WANT TO DELAY MY CASE. It's already been 1 and half week now and still waiting for PCC, said will take about a week to get new passport and another week (so 2 to 3 weeks total) to get PCC. Does anyone have any suggestions? Please help.

Thanks.
