Hi!

I have a question about my friends situation. She got married on January 20th, sent her papers a month later, had biometrics on March 23rd. On April 1st she got NOA about interview that she will have on May 8th. Since i'm already done with my adjustmant and removing condition i've been helping her and she's been comparing her situation to mine. Not just me but other people we talked to have interview after 6 or more months from sending their paperwork. I know every case is different but she's wondering why she got interview notice so fast. I think that the sooner the better but she's scared that it's too early, that they don't have enough time to gather evidence...anybody has simillar timelines? is it unusuall?

thanks for your help!

Try to reassure her that early is good. The service centers are getting better at processing applications in a timely way. USCIS will consider the length of time that they have had to gather joint evidence. They will have proof of the marriage - the certificate - and they should be able to have a few months of evidence showing they are living together at the same address and are starting their new life together. They won't be expected to have the same degree of evidence as someone who has been married for one or two years already. The big collection of evidence will come for the Removal of Conditions in two years from now. Once she gets the OAS interview out of the way, she can start collecting evidence for that.

Good luck to your friend. I am sure she will do fine.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”
