I know that JFK is the only POE that regularly issues the EAD. I have heard this information from people's personal experiences as well as seen it in guides like the one below. My question is, can someone please direct me to a government website that mentions this practice? Thanks in advance for your assistance!!!

>>K-1 Visa Holder Guide <<

When you can File:

1. At the Airport. As a K-1 Visa Holder you may receive a temporary EAD at the Point of Entry (POE). This has however become very uncommon and the only known POE that (and not always) issues these is JFK International Airport. If they do issue you a temporary EAD it will expire on the date that your K-1 expires (90 days from entry on your K-1). (Where: at the POE only)

what exactly do you want verified?

Basically, I've heard about this practice, but I've never seen anything "official" about it. I'd really like to see a government website that discusses the granting of the EAD at the JFK POE. Additionally, I'd also be interested to see if EAD is available at any other POEs, and if so, how to go about getting it.

Thanks in advance!

All you will find at any government website is the fact that the EAD is given at the discretion of the officer. At JFK, it was automatically stamped on the passport.

Haven't seen any reports of other POEs (other than JFK) issuing Temp. EAD.

Am not certain how useful this Temp. EAD is/was in reality since many (if not most) employers would not hire an individual with such a limited status (since it is/was good for 90 days only). Best advice - file for AOS/EAD as soon as possible and forget about this Temp. EAD. The EAD you'd file for is usually processed within 70-90 days and is valid for 1 year.

The problem is that now the temp EAD stamp from JFK is no longer good enough to satisfy the requirements for the NEW I-9. The stamp is only good if your visa lists a spesific employer and K1's do not mention any employer.

So no point in getting it anymore.
