Our daughter (K2) wants to return to Russia in June and when we left Russia last week (yep..jet lagged still) the officers at the Delta security point told her that she will need to go to Houston (where in Houston?) to get a special stamp in her passport to allow this. Since they were speaking Russian, I understood zilch. What does she need to allow her to travel, other than notarized letter(s) from her mom and I that states she is allowed to travel alone. Her gm will meet her in Moscow. Any help/advice would be greatle appreciated!

Perhaps they meant the I551 stamp. With the greencard you do not need any stamp. DOes she have her greencard? If not she can get a stamp in her passport (if she has been approved already). And yes as long as her parents sign the letters, you do not need anything else. Good Luck

Yes, they both have their greencards. I am wondering of the agent was not aware of that as I don't remember if we presented him with the gc's but just our passports.

If the child is being sent by one parent , such as a divorced parent , that parent needs to have a notarized letter from the other giving permission. This rule is to prevent parental kidnappings. You will have to pay a fee for a child traveling alone under a certain age, check with the airlines. There is also a limit on the numbers of stops they can make during the trip. Also check with the airlines it may vary with the airlines. When I sent my sons to various places I had to know who was going to meet them at the airport and that person has to have acceptable identification. Right after 9-11 my younger son was traveling alone and the airlines misplaced him. I actually ended up at the lost baggage and when the agent asked me to describe my lost article he gave me an odd look as I described a blond haired, grey eyed child. But he located him in less then 4 minutes after the ticket counter and customer service had failed to find him for 2 hours. I guess it pays to go to the experts.
