can someone please tell me that the original birth certificate and marriage certificate is required at the time of interview or not.i am sending the originals to NVC alongwith DS-230 form.

Hello...

Just send the originals to the NVC, and this is a MUST.....Make copies of the originals to be carried at the time of interview.

Once they see ur originals in their hand, so does not matter if u submit certified or simple clear copies........U will be fine with simple one, if u r a perfactionist, then can go for certified copies.......

The originals u file aongwith ur DS-230 will to mailed to Islamabad by NVC after they complete ur case.you just bring regular copies @ the time of intreview incase there is a question and the originals will be given back when the visa processing is done

I believe DS-230 was called packet 3 before.But i m not sure.I have heard NVC assigns interview dates during second working week of the month and it depends on how busy ur .embassy is too If ur case is completed in first week of a month,You most likely will get a date for the next month.If u miss the first week u will get some thing after a month when they do the scheduling again.Hope this helps.

After sending the Original Documents,to the NVC, is there a DOS form for requesting the Originals be returned? I was thinking of submitting a letter requesting the Originals be returned and a complete set of copies at the interview. Anybody been successful in getting the Originals back, lately? The DOS rules state that you are supposed to send both originals and regular photocopies to NVC (but photocopies seems to be optional as many have gotten case complete by submitting originals alone).

NVC forwards the entire file to embassy after case complete, and after interview, embassy is supposed to keep the photocopies and give back the originals. That is the official DOS policy, but of course embassies seem to have their own set of rules. Most embassies follows this policy and the CO will have the originals during the interview, so just ask for those back once the interview is over. Take another set of photocopies with you during the interview to be safe.

as many others have posted, if the originals were submitted to NVC then you will not be asked to provide them during the interview...but it is a good idea to bring copies along with you, but not ABSOlUTELY neccessary...when you receive the final packet they will inform you if any ORIGINAL documents will be needed at the interview...GOOD LUCK
