Hi guys:

Tom and I got he NOA 2; NVC sent it to Lima and now we are waiting for Packages 3 and 4 from the Embassy in Lima.

1. I have started gathering the documents but I would really appreciate if somebody –that has received these packages during 2009- could tell me their contents.

2. Also, if all the necessary forms are sent in the packages or do I have to get them online.

3. Do passport photographs really HAVE TO show my complete ears? … the ones we filed with I-129F showed a bit of my ears and my little pearl earrings, but my hair was not behind my ears … I want to use the same photos, what do you guys think?

4. Is it true that my fiancé has to send me his last 3 tax returns?

5. Please help ASAP … I want to have everything ready for this Monday because my passport is valid exactly for 6 months and 15 days, so I have to run … I wouldn’t want to obtain a new passport just for the fiancée visa … Or should I?

I haven’t slept for 2 days thinking about all this … so stressing!!!

Besos,

Patricia

You should get your passport renewed. You will most likely need it again in the near future. It will be much easier and cheaper to get in Peru. My wife got hers in just a day or 2. For example to drive in the state of washington where my wife will be living she needs 2 proofs of ID a passport being one of them but they will not accept an expired passport. A current passport is a good form of ID here in the US but it will be worthless if expired

U.S. Department of State passport requierments are as follows:

See Quality Requirements for Passport Book & Passport Card Photographs to avoid photo processing delays.

Your Photographs Must Be:

Identical

In color

2 x 2 inches in size

Taken within the past 6 months, showing current appearance

Full face, front view with a plain white or off-white background

Between 1 inch and 1 3/8 inches from the bottom of the chin to the top of the head

Taken in normal street attire:

Uniforms should not be worn in photographs except religious attire that is worn daily

Do not wear a hat or headgear that obscures the hair or hairline

If you normally wear prescription glasses, a hearing device, wig or similar articles, they should be worn for your picture

Dark glasses or nonprescription glasses with tinted lenses are not acceptable unless you need them for medical reasons (a medical certificate may be required)

Thank you so much for your reply Conquest!!

- About the passport: mine was already renwed some years ago and in Peru you are only allowed to renew once. Then you have to obtain a brand new passport (and I didn't want to because my current one has all of my tourist visas). But if I will have to use it in the future -meaning more than 6 months from now- as ID or in any other circumstance, it is a great advice to get a new one, then.

- About the photographs: Yes, my photos comply with all these requirements, it's just that my hair is not behind my ears and I have read something about that and even the lady in the Photo place called and said that I NEEDED to have new photos taken because my ears were not showing COMPLETELY. Does all she really want is more money from me?

Gracias y besos,

Patricia

So ... I have been calling the Embassy for 3 days, finally they told me I could go pick up a copy of the contents of these packages, which is actually only one package.

Helpfull but not the best information. For example, under POLICE CERTIFICATE they say you have to get a behaviour certificate of the police authorities of all the places (it doesn't say "countries" or "departments/states", ir says "places") where you have resided for 12 months or more since you were 16 years old. Also, a behaviour certificate of the police authorities of the place where you reside now. And something else that doesn't apply to me.

So, I called the Embassy again today to ask them if I have to get a certificate from the Police authorities of Arequipa (Arequipa), San Isidro (Lima), Surco (Lima) and Miraflores (Lima) because I have lived in these cities/districts for more than 1 year since I was 16! She said no, just bring your National Police Certificate and a normal Police certificate from the police of your current district (Miraflores). Finally an intelligent answer.

On Wednesday I will have my medical examination, provided the Embassy gives me the official letter with the interview date on it, on time for the medical.

I also got my passport renewed. Thanks for the advice!! Hope this info helps somebody else.

Bye,

Patricia

Hola Patricia:

Espero me puedas ayudar

Slds.

Lucia

Saluditos,

Patricia
