Tougher than I thought it would be

Well after taking care of booking a flight and stuff I ended the lease of my apartment today. I will be able to stay here till I leave so that is pretty cool, but wow I never expected it to be this tough to end my lease after 6 years of living here. It's really weird, my stuff (furniture etc) I really don't care about, but this place, my home, hmm, it's a lot tougher than I thought it would be . Don't get me wrong, I am really looking forward to my future and stuff, but I am somewhat sad about leaving my life the way I have always known it behind. This subject has probably been covered on here lots and lots of time, but oh well, I just needed to vent this right now.

My hubby and I just moved from my former place where I had been for 8 years to a new rental house and that was so hard for me -- and I didn't even like where I was living before! So I can only imagine how difficult and strange it must be for you. Any change is a process and you certainly have a lot of changes on your plate right now. My best advice is to just allow yourself to feel, face those feelings the best you can, and try to maintain your enthusiasm for all the beautiful new experiences you have ahead. Right now it is strange and somewhat depressing, but how freeing it must be to in effect "start over". Share as many feelings with your fiance as possible and use any excess energy to prepare yourself as best you can for the future.

Its tough i know that.....Sometimes u end up thinking and while you are thinking u also realize how many ppl u left behind. When I went to Ameirca on march 30 I didnt have anything. Stupi Air France had lost not one but BOTH of my bags.....then I realized : Damn i dont have anything left here.....Except the 63 bucks refund from Air France for losing my bags lol

63 bucks for losing your luggage? That doesn't seem right. They should replace everything.

When I move to the Uk, they had better not lose anything... I will be putting many essentials in those bags. Some will be things I cannot get there.

its tough picking up your entire life and moving it somewhere you're not entirely familiar and comfortable. Some people adjust better than others, but the first little while you may not have much time to be homesick because you're unpacking everything

I know exactly how you feel=(.While I was away, my parents decide to sell the house I spent my most memorable years in. I didn't even get to say "bye" to my room, lol. Sounds funny, but it's sorta sad really.

In a way I am glad I won't be here when my keys need to be handed over and the apartment will be all empty.....my parents will take care of that. Of course a lot of stuff will be gone already by the time I leave since I am selling things and giving away things, but it won't be a complete empty shell when I leave, but still, sigh. I really don't handle changes all too well. Once it is all over and done with I'm fine, but the time leading up to something that's really big I change into this completely different person it seems
