I'm in a dilemma here. I have my interview scheduled for May 5, 09 in Montreal, but I just found out I'm pregnant. My due date is not until Dec 7, 2009 and for work reasons, I'll be staying and delivering in Canada. If I go for my interview as scheduled on May 5, I'll have to activate my visa by Nov. However, I'd rather not travel during pregnancy, and wait until 1 month after my delivery to travel (and activate my visa). Should I just postpone my interview? Do they ever make exceptions to the 6 month rule?

I already have my medical exam scheduled for next week. If I have it next week, how long is it good for? If I have my interview postponed until Aug, the medical exam will be 4 months old. Is that OK?

Thanks!

I checked with Embassy. Med exam is good for 1 year. But ur application will have to be adjusted to add your child, that the baby may require medical? Or portions of? Your situation sounds unique.

Maybe someone more experienced will come along. You may want to consult with an immigration lawyer for options? It would suck if you had to refile.

But congrats on pregnancy!!!!

Ps, you also will not be allowed to do full medical, chest xray. Medical is easy to reschedule. That's the least of your worries.

Good luck!

You won't have to refile, I assume the baby is also the baby of the U.S. citizen who is sponsoring you - a simple registration of birth abroad will be all you need.

You really have 2 options here:

Go to your scheduled interview in May - explain the situation and ask if they can hold off issuing your visa until August.

Email Montreal and tell them you cannot make the scheduled interview and ask if there is any possibility you can reschedule for August - explain why. Now they may not give you an interview in the month you request - but you have 7 months before you want to leave anyway.
