Original NBI, or copy ok?

My fiance's original was kept by the DFA in issuing her passport. Will the photocopy pass muster at the interview?

If not, is there way to get a duplicate on-line, via the mail? It's a 3-hour bus ride for her back to the NBI in a neighboring city.

THanks for the assist.

Hello, I believe that you have to go back to their office closer to where you live. I think they don't have any on-line services yet.

NBI CLEARANCE: Applicants aged 16 years and older must have a valid Record Clearance for Travel Abroad Purposes from the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI). Clearances should be in the applicant’s current name, birth certificate name, maiden name, married name, and any aliases or nicknames ever used, including different spellings of all names ever used. An official letter of explanation from the NBI is required for any notation of “No criminal record”, "No pending criminal case” or “With derogatory record.” NBI is located along Taft Avenue in Manila. You may contact NBI at (632) 523-82-31 to 38. For immigration purposes, an NBI clearance is considered valid only for one year from the date it is issued.

It does not say. For NSO documents, it does state they must be on NSO security paper.

It has to be an original copy. You want a pink slip after your interview not a white one. So get an original copy for your interview.

PM me for any AP or AR relating to the NBI

the embassy will keep an original copy for themselves too... and yes NBI certificate has two section (similar faces). but, the second section is for personal copy (for you to keep), the first one, is for the agency that you're applying to (embassy, DFA, job)... and when she apply for another one, make sure that she stated its for abroad or travel to the US (they have different color for different purpose)... its important also that the NBI has to be recent or close to the interview date... good luck!!!

Tell your fiancee to go the NBI in Carriedo, Quiapo Manila. She will only have to wait 2 hours for the NBI clearance. It's fast. I got my NBI in Carriedo and I waited for two hours only. Same day release. Good luck to both of you. :star:

She has to get another NBI.

If she want "no record on file" remark, tell her not to bring her latest NBI when getting a new one.

If she shows her latest NBI while applying, expect the remark to be "no derogatory record"....

The original is required. If i remember it right, one of the letters i got from the USEM said that, if you will submit a photocopy.. you still have to bring the original ones and show them.. :)

MY K1 EXPERIENCE blog...click on this link..

My K1 visa has already been approved. I had been really frustrated to find more info about K1 when we were still under the process. Some blogs have been useful. Now, that I completed the K1 process, I wish to share my own experience. So click on the link if you need more info about K1. The blog includes the requirements, med exams, questions on the interview, CFO and more. I hope that it will help. Thanks. Cheers and good luck.. :)
