Biometrics Appointment

Hi All,

I have a couple of questions my wife’s biometrics appointment is on Thursday, June 29, 2006 @ 9:00AM. The biometrics appointment is for the AOS (I-485). We shall take with us to the appointment the; I-797 (Notice of Action, with her married last name), Colombian Passport, Florida ID (that it is expired), Social Security Card and the Marriage Certificate. She has no identification with her married last name this is why we should take the Marriage Certificate, is there anything else that we can take?

What happens at this meeting? Is it just taking her finger prints and pictures? Should we take anything else?

It's just pictures and prints, you show your appt letter and that's all she needs.

Peter, in my office the would only let in the person whom the appointment was for, my hubby had to wait in the car. She will have to fill out a form asking basic questions (name, age, address, etc) They also wouldn't let me bring my handbag in, I had to go back and put it in the car. You seem to have all the documents I was asked for

Peter glad too see you have your biometrics appointment....all your SO needs is her passport, her appointment letter and her marriage certificate. Go earlier if you can then the 9am stated, it will be ok, as you know I just had to go back for my appointment. Depending on the office ...my husband was allowed in with me to the building but not actually in the office where they did the photo and finger printing.

Ours is right in our city Miami. You have that your local office is Montreal? How can you local office be in another (Canada) country?

You will get the address, date and time when you receive your “Notice of Action” (I-797).

First of all good luck this Thursday. My wife’s biometric is this Thursday also. In the “Notice of Action” I-797 it states to bring; one this appointment notice and second a photo identification (passport, drivers license, national ID, military ID, or State-issued photo ID). It states that “If you appear without proper identification, your biometrics may not be taken”.

This is why I am concern because I have read a couple of threads here on VJ where people went with passport or some other ID’s but the last name did not match the new married last name and the biometrics were not done on some of those cases.

Small world....my appointment is also this Thursday in Tampa.

I had my biometrics last Friday. Piece of cake. My husband was allowed in with me. He just sat in the waiting area while I went up got the forms, went to sit next to him whilst I filled them out, then I handed them over and got taken around the corner to the area with the computers and scanners. It was an open plan office, and my fingerprints and a photo was taken.

I took my passport, marriage licence and appointment letter, although I did have a few more things on me incase needed, but they really weren't.

Johanna did her biometrics this morning and it was a breeze. We were in and out in less than thirty minutes. I wish other things with Immigration were this quick.
