A Chinese farmer was shocked when one of his new piglets was born with three eyes and two mouths.

The piglet was among eight newborn piglets at Liu Dingsheng's farm in Chongren County, Zhejiang province.

"We were shocked to see such a weird looking creature," said Liu, "I don't really know what to do with it."

Liu told People's Daily that the mother was a four-year-old sow which was completely healthy and normal.

A local vet said the abnormality may have been caused by genetic mutation or feed pollution.

As the world's fastest developing industrial nation, China suffers heavily from environmental pollution.

You are the geneticist, you tell me. i have no clue :(

Well, I don't ever recall analysing pig chromosomes! :P On looks it does look like a conjoined or partially vanished twin. But what do I know - it's a pig!

I do know that cats have 38 (excluding the ocelot and tiger cat who have 36)...does that help at all?

Poor piggy. :(

Ditto. :(

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

Actually, it's when the embryo divides that's the problem. Not a chromosome issue. It's the issue when during the early pregnacy cycle, something caused the embryo not to divide completely. Maybe because of a minor mutation in a gene that encodes for an enzyme that cause it to divide is the problem.

Well, duh. I don't recall saying it was a chromosome problem but a conjoined or partially vanished twin. ;)
