Joint sponsor or household sponsor?

Someone who lives in the same house but files separate taxes would be considered a joint sponsor or household sponsor to the original sponsor in the same household? I know it may sound a bit confusing. So the sponsor is sponsoring for the immigrant but if they need a joint or cosponsor and there is someone else living in the same household (parent) and they file their own taxes and want to help would be considered as? This is just so I can tell them which form they have to use 864 or 864a. They may not need it but they asked. Both parties file separate taxes and not claimed on each other taxes. Thanks

Per the instructions:

The sponsor is the son and is not a dependent, so the father will have to use 1864 still or I864A when helping in joint or cosponsorship? They both file there own taxes but live in same house.

You can find the info on Page 1 of the I-864A, Contract Between Sponsor and Household Member

I will look into that once again but the second bullet says if the relative has been claimed as a dependent. Are the three bulleted points independent of each other or are the three attached together?

A joint sponsor is someone who lives in the petitioner's household and therefore fills up the I-864A. It is co-sponsor who is filing separate I-864.

The joint sponsor is always a member of the sponsor's household (or vice versa) and filing I-864A along with the petitioner.
