Oh, but I like both New and Old Arbat Street!!

My husband bought our rings in Moscow (just like I wanted) and proposed to me in an apartment-hotel we were staying at in Barcelona, near the Sagrada Familia. He wanted to do it in a romantic restaurant, but my son, who was on the trip with us, made him to nervous to think creatively (or that's the official version). At any rate, we have a witness to tell that the answer was definitely yes.

In the apartment I rented in Kherson. The moment seemed right, and I have no patience anyway - seldom an unspoken thought

Alla and I met in Kiev. I was going to take her for a walk around the block from our rental apartment to St. Sophia but the day was cold and snowy.

She announced that she just wanted to stay in the apartment and practice her English and keep each other warm

So I proposed to her there in the apartment in Kiev with the outline of St. Sophia Cathedral in the background out the windows.

She said yes and we kept warm

Hey, Baron! Are your photos from the Pechersk Lavra in Kiev? Oleksandra and I went there when we were getting our Letter of non-impediment to Marriage from the US Embassy. Good memories! =)

I proposed to Oleksandra on New Years Eve in the apartment where she had lived her whole life and her mother filmed it. We had dinner reservations at one of their big night clubs so we had a big celebration afterwards. I'll never forget it!

We visited the caves/crypts too. Interesting stuff - and even bought a fridge magnet. :star:

Cool. Yeah, we bought some icons and other stuff there as well. My wife must have taken about a thousand photos even though it was freezing when we went.

Actually that's Alla and I in Maidan. We did go to the Lavra also. We were in Kiev from Feb 14 to Feb 24 for our meeting. We had a great time; confirmed that we both liked each other very much and became engaged. Now we are on our journey.

So did Vika. It was warmer in the caves than above ground. It was creepy-cool.

Oh We were in St. Issac's Cathedral (St. Petersburg, RU) and I had the ring in my pocket and wanted to ask her there but there were so many people I wanted it to be a little more private. So I chickened out. When we came out of the Cathedral she asked if I wanted to go see the Neva River. I said sure why not and we walked a little ways to the river through the park. A little bear sitting on a park bench sucking on a bottle of juice was there and we walked past the bear and in front of the Statue of The Bronze Horseman. The Re-enactors of Peter the great and his wife were bothering us to take our picture (with my own camera haha) There were just married couples taking pictures on the grassy area. I looked off in the distance and saw the Cathedral, park, bear, Neva River. I told her to stand in front of the Bronze Horseman and took her picture then got down on one knee and asked her to marry me. We had talked about it before and I had been there three days and hadn't asked her. She said "what took you so long, yes!" Then I told her to help me up haha

I proposed on the observation deck of the Empire State Building. I didn't have it planned but at that moment in time it just seemed like the perfect place at the perfect time.

Gatchina Park, just outside of Saint-Petersburg.

We were set to leave for Moscow that night (to visit her best friend) and then head to Krivoy Rog, Ukraine, to meet her family.

So I thought, "I had better propose to her before I meet her mother."

Thank goodness she said, "Of course I will."
