Okay for those of you who don't know me I am based in Edinburgh at the moment, and I did a particularly geeky thing and walked a lot of the routes listed in Dragonfly in Amber yesterday, the weather was fab and it was thoroughly enjoyable to imagine the being in a place the story took place. (Even if it is fiction  ).

Also couldn't help myself picked up a guilty pleasure for 60p at a charity store. Reading Lauren Weisberger's 'Everyone Worth Knowing'

Ohmygosh, I had completely forgotten about The Phantom Tollbooth! I should probably read it as an adult so I can see what went over my head as a child.

I remember when I was in grade school I used to be obsessed with reading Ray Bradbury books. They were awesome.

I loved Something Wicked This Way Comes and Fahrenheit 451. God I haven't read those in forever. I think I was probably a freshman in high school was probably the last time I read them. I tried reading Twilight to see what all the hype was about. I don't get it. I read about 20 pages and couldn't get past how much I disliked the writting style. I've got 2 books on my desk at work, The Trial by Kafka, and a collection of poems by E. E. Cummings. I read the Cummings poems because I swear to god they are the most difficult to understand and interpret. I almost never get it right either lolol.

A trivia question for you. What's the name of that story where there's a little tiny family that lives behind the wall in a big people's house and they take things? While I am trying to reconnect those neurons to find the answer I keep coming up with The Fantastiks for some strange reason. I know I'll rebuild the pathway to that memory eventually but until then..... who's got the answer?

How have I missed this thread until now?

Joe and I 'decorate' with books! We both love reading and when I moved here much of what was in the moving van was boxes of books. We had to double the shelves Joe already had in the house just to accommodate my books - and even now they are all overflowing.

I don't know how I avoid reading it until now but right now I am reading "To Kill a Mockingbird" by Harper Lee and enjoying it very much.

My favourites include anything by Jane Austen, but particularly Pride and Prejudice. I love The Blue Castle by Lucy Maud Montgomery, and The Persian Boy by Mary Renault - those are about my 'favourites' although, like others have said, I don't really have just one or two but many favourites which I tend to re-visit like old friends. I enjoy the "English country house' style of murder mysteries, the Anne McAffrey Dragon Rider books, and a lot of the classics, too! And then, there is the non-fiction . . . . !!!

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

. Lucy Maude Montgomery, Anne of Green Gables

The Borrowers! That's it! Thanks Emancipation!

To Kill a Mockingbird. I remember reading that in school and just loved it. I always meant to read it, again, as an adult. That and Lord of the Flies. I must get myself a library card and check out the local library.

I love reading! I wish I had more time to do it. After the move to the US I will be so bored I'll need a good list of things to read! Now I know where to go to get tips on some good novels :)

I recently read Nora Roberts Sign of 7 Trilogy. Good stuff!

I think To Kill a Mockingbird is my favorite book ever! Great Expectations is close behind...

Right now I am reading "A Fine Balance", but some of my favourite books are "To Kill a Mockingbird", "East of Eden" and the Ken Folliet series "Pillars of the Earth and World Without End".

A day without reading is like a day without sunshine!

I'm currently read The Stone Angel by Margaret Lawrence. My mentor told me to wait until I was much older to read it (40+) because it would mean more to me then....however after all these years of staring at it, I'm giving it a go any ways.

"...My hair's mostly wind,

My eyes filled with grit

My skin's white then brown

My lips chapped and split

I've lain on the prairie and heard grasses sigh

I've stared at the vast open bowl of the sky

I've seen all the castles and faces in clouds

My home is the prairie and for that I am proud…

If You're not from the Prairie, you can't know my soul

You don't know our blizzards; you've not fought our cold

You can't know my mind, nor ever my heart

Unless deep within you there's somehow a part…

A part of these things that I've said that I know,

The wind, sky and earth, the storms and the snow.

Best say that you have - and then we'll be one,

For we will have shared that same blazing sun." - David Bouchard
