I think you would enjoy it then, yes  . I haven't read either of those but I will definitely take a look at them. Fortunately, I am past the age of being pregnant so shouldn't have a worry - unless of course, I turn out to be some sort of weird mutant myself!

Perhaps you will end up reading about yourself in the book :P

I think I will get 10,000 year explosion. Thanks for the suggestion.

You should definitely at least check out Mutants. Even though it does delve into the science the book is written for a layman audience but it's not too general that it feels oversimplified or shallow. Mapping Human History is something I think you have to have an interest in the subject to enjoy but it is certainly worth while if it is your 'bag' :).

I just finished reading a book..... though, why, I'll never know.... called A Slice of Murder. It is, hands down, one of the worst books I have ever read. The writing is absolutely horrible, and there was nothing mysterious about it. The characters and plot were so unbelievable that I probably said "Yeah, right" at least twice a page.

I have just started reading Spycatcher. It was interesting to pick it up and see an inscription inside. I'd given it to my father 25 years ago.

I recently got into the cozy mystery scene. I read the "Gray Whale Inn" mystery series by Karen MacInerney and found it charming. It's not Nobel Prize winning literature but good enough for a quick breezy read on a weekend. The first book, I believe, is free on Amazon. The other three I got off my public library via Kindle.

The books in order are:

Murder on the Rocks

Dead and Berried

Murder Most Maine

Berried to the Hilt

I also finished Carbs & Cadavers by J. B. Stanley last night. Didn't really enjoy that too much.

I am also loving Carl Hiaasen's YA stuff. I read Hoot, Scat and Flush in quick succession. Now waiting for Chomp.

Currently reading The Host and enjoying it very much.

I'm not a huge fan of Stephanie Meyer's writing style after finishing the Twilight series but I can sincerely say her writing has much improved in The Host. Although it obvious she is not much of a science fiction writer but this is me being nit-picky.

I am the petitioner.

I just finished the Fifty Shades trilogy....they were good and not as 'sexually intimidating' as media presents.

Also just finished Bared to You which was on the same line as the 50 series.....and looks like it will be part of a series too.

Friends have recommended the following for my summer reads:

-A Thousand Splendid Suns ......and.....The Kite Runner by Khalid Hosseini

-The Alchemist by Paulo Coehlo

-The White Tiger by Adiga Aravinal

-The Book Thief by Marcus Zuzak

-One Night @ the Call Center by Chetan Bhagat

I went to the library tonight to investigate these titles and sure enough....holds were on them....so I know they'll be good.

I would not recommend ANYTHING by Chetan Bhagat. That man cannot write worth a lick.

I attempted to start the 50 Shades series ... the writing is absolutely brutal. I don't think I made it past the first twenty pages. It reads like bad fanfiction.

That's because it started out as fanfiction :) LOL.

I read the fanfic version of it... It was a two-parter called Master of the Universe, starring Edward Cullen and Bella Swan :) All they did when they published it was change their names to Christian and Anastasia, and some of the other minor characters names as well.

I'm currently reading Eat, Pray, Love, because my aunt recommended it... but I'm not totally loving it.

Well ... that sure explains it.
