I'm reading Jack Maggs right now. Very interesting. I think since the last time I posted, I've probably read about 20 books, and I can't remember them all now! Maybe none were really memorable? I did get to meet and bought Wally Lamb's latest book. The man is amazing, and so genuine and kind. I had to stand in line for 1.5 hours to get him to sign my book, but it was worth it, as he saw each person individually, and spent some time with each of us. A truly dear man.

I think I'm going to have to read The Lovely Bones again. I do remember it was an amazing book, and that I loved it. I kept a copy...that means, to me anyway, that it was something I wanted to keep. Now, saying that, I'm going to have to read it again because we actually went on Saturday to see the movie and I can't remember if it was true to the book!

If I remember correctly, some parts of the book were terrifying and horrific. They don't show that at all in the movie. BUT, they didn't have to. You know? I truly loved the movie. The young girl, who is the centre of the movie, and the main character is truly a gifted actress. She's incredibly beautiful, in a very wholesome way.

Anyway, I'm going to reread the book again this weekend. I normally don't see movies made from books. Saying that however, I did see The Time Traveller's Wife not that long ago and loved it. What I found helpful, was not to compare the book and the movie, scene by scene. It was hard to do, but once I relaxed, I was able to do it, and enjoyed the movie. Of course I didn't have to worry about The Lovely Bones, because I couldn't remember every little detail of the book!

I just finished The Lovely Bones. I am undecided..I really enjoyed the bulk of the book but am not totally comfortable with how it ended. It may be one of those that I will put away and reread again in a few years.

Carla, I'm interested in hearing how the movie compares to the book.

Just finished up 'Atlas Shrugged' by Ayn Rand (I re-read this tome twice a year).

Just started a Gabaldon book ..

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

Okay, I finished The Lovely Bones, and I'm horrified to say that I enjoyed the movie better! I can't believe I'm saying that. The movie did not have her death scene, and quite frankly, it wasn't needed, whether you read the book or not. The visuals of "heaven" were outstanding. While somewhat descriptive in the book, it was very nice seeing the visual interpretation. No, it's not true to the book...there were some aspects of the book I didn't like, and was glad it was taken out in the movie. If anyone else is going to see the movie, I'd be interested to know which you enjoyed better, the movie or the book. I as well wanted to say that I really enjoyed Mark Wahlberg's playing the father in the movie.

So, for myself, I have to ask the question...do I enjoy the books more because I read them first vs. seeing the movie? If I had of seen the movie first, would I have enjoyed the books more? I'm thinking this because while I remembered the premise of the book when I saw the movie, there was many comparisons I couldn't make while watching the movie because I'd just plain forgot!

Something for me to ponder...

I swear by my life and my love of it, that I will never live for the sake of another man, nor ask another man to live for mine.

As for Gabaldon, I've only read one of her books, but I loved it. I will definitely be reading some when I get back into reading again.

Yahoo!...I found another old VJ message thread to add to.....:)

Lol....I haven't read a book in over a year, I must confess....

But last week I went to the local library...

And found a copy of..."The Lost Symbol", By Marc Brown.....

He's the author of that DaVinci Code book, btw.....

Anyways, I started reading it (while my son was napping)....And was hooked.....

350+ pages and 2 days later...It was quite the read!

Anyone else read it?

I definitely recommend it!....

I liked the 'conspiracy' aspect of the book tooo.....

Lol....Gives us all something to think about.....

And yes, there is a "surprise ending" to this.....Which makes us all really think about things....

Happy reading! May you find the lost symbol too!

Oops...I meant Dan Brown....NOT....Marc Brown.....

My mistake....

Dan Brown= The lost symbol, The DaVinci code..

Marc Brown= Arthur the aardvark (children's books...)...

Don't mind me..I read books from both genres....

ROFL....

So what books have you all been reading lately? :)
