Go Iowa! That's not a state I would have picked to do something like this...but good for them!

And I mean no offense to Iowa...I just tend to imagine those midwestern states as mostly super conservative. Don't hate on me because I don't know anything about Iowa!

Naw. They got Senator Tom Harkin. That would be the man in the middle, watching John Kerry shaking hands with Fidel Castro.

To those who are opposed to gay marriage..... why?

Is it because you think it's "icky"?

Is it because it goes against YOUR religion?

Is there really any rational, definitive reason that it shouldn't be allowed?

How does it hurt YOU? That's what I really want to know. In what way does it affect your life?

In reverse, I don't understand why people are for gay marriage. Does it make you feel good that you don't have to do anything for another "poor, oppressed minority" other than cheer them on? Why does what makes liberals feel good always have to be forced on EVERYONE else to accept against their will?

I can't answer to your questions because I'm all for it... but I thought this little clip was a good demonstration on how people think it will make a difference, but finally it does not change much for them, even if they were in disagreement...

How has your life changed since Same sex marriage was legalized? I especially like the answer of the old lady at 4:25

To me, it's the same reason people get involved with charities. Friends, family, etc. affected negatively by <whatever> people are going to want to help out. Equal rights, or lack of them has a negative impact on their lives.

Gays have the right to marry. They just can't marry their same sex.

My statement still applies to your question why people want to be involved if it doesn't personally (self) affect them. What people involved in combating this is the opinion that there is a "right" missing. Which I agree with :)

I don't see a right missing. Marriage is not a right, it's a privilege.

Phrasing your assertion in reverse: I can't understand all the 'gay hate' in you.

Opposition to gay marriage doesn't equal hate.
