Again, you are missing the point! This is what government agents and criminals of the time would be armed with too. The whole point was not to give people an inferior weapon, but to give them same weapons everyone else could get! And by the way, these black powder muzzleloaders were normally chambered in 50-70 calibers which is way more "high powered" than modern day 22-30 caliber miltary rifles.

The big government failed there because they went down the wrong road of Communism rather than socialism. If you guys had become socialist from the start and allowed people to prosper (responsibly) you would be better than America. After all you had smarter and had better engineers. Dodgy but better. As I ways said, if Russia had a mandatory breathalyzer test before every shift and applied a bit of TQM you would be kicking ####. But you sealed the doors and isolated the people. Something which never works.

I own thee guns too. Hence, why I know how ridiculous it is that they are available so freely.

Again, THERE IS NO SUCH THING as high powered weapon!!! Most of deer rifles are larger caliber than an average miltary rifle. That allows to hunt without torturing the animal. Modern Miltary rifles are designed to maim not to kill. Learn the subject before making statements!

2) Minimum caliber to do the job for a deer would be larger than the one for a human. The whole caliber debate is pointless, that's why militaries around the world keep switching to smaller calibers.

3) Again, right to bear arms is NOT ABOUT HUNTING. If someone ever attacks you, maybe you'll get it - police will be there soon, with black plastic bags

These incidents are beyond the random and isolated point. As is the case with the 16,204 murdered each and every year compared to Australia's 302.

But

You live in the DC area right. How many times have you heard of John Wayne style move saves the day? Almost zero. What I do hear every second day is one or more of the following words dead, shot, killed, innocent, walking with is kid etc.
