The 2008 August thread was a lively bunch because we always had things to chat about in the wait, like what our dresses were going to be like for the wedding, what the plans were, and all that.

So in that mindset, has anyone here get honeymoon plans in the mix yet?

I can start off, when Chris and I actually get married we are going to go to San Fransico for a weekend, and then down the track (when I can leave the US) we hope to be able to head to egypt and cruise down the nile to see the pyramids, i know its a long way away but it will be something to look forward to.

Egypt! How cool is that! Well...we plan on a simple wedding on the beach. We both married before so just him and I and the 3 kids. Few other people like his mom, couple friends. We figure get married, go out for dinner with everyone and then we'll stay on the beach for a day or so while the kids go with Grandma. Later on when we can actually leave the states...probably not till next summer we want to go on a cruise and take the kids. Disney cruises would be awesome but wow....they aren't cheap.

Have you considered doing a sand ceremony at your wedding ceremony?

egypt would be really cool!..as long as nobody is shooting across the nile lol... I would love to go but the middle east seems to be so unpredictable I would just hate to take the chance... besides there is a lot of cool stuff here that I want to show her! B)

Yeah the Disney cruise was actually his mothers idea....then I looked up how much...OMG...thinking regular cruise at this point.

Sand ceremony sounds interesting....never heard of it before. I'll have to run it by the other half and see what he thinks.

Heh, I think him and I are still at the bickering point as to what our wedding itself will entail...

But I don't think we'll be doing much in the way of a honeymoon. He's already extended his vacation time by two weeks this year to accommodate visits, and it'll be another week at least if I get my interview date before the end of the year... so we'll likely be laying low. Maybe head to one of the Disney parks for the day that weekend or something, but nothing fancy.

Sand ceremony is a very cool thing for a blended family, all 5 of you would have different colored sand, his first, then yours into a bottle, then their sand colors, then his and yours to top it off so it makes layers.

Very cool way to have them feel like part of the situation and family, we well as have something visual for you all.

it has been awfully quite on here....

I am trying to make the most of my last 2 weeks in the states all very sad, however I get to celebrate my birthday next saturday (with a whole heap of Chris' family) and then its our 12 month anniversary of our engagement on sunday and then back to Australia on Monday, going to be a very emotional weekend.

Hello my fellow travelers. Another week begins. That means one more week since we filed and one less week to go..........whenever we are approved. But is one less week anyway.

The sun is shinning fiercely here in Puerto Rico but it seems it might rain this afternoon. All is peaceful in my office today, work is going smoothly.

Anybody has seen a good movie lately? I watched "Grand Torino" with Clint Eastwod. It was not what I expected. Oh well....next weekend I'll try another. I wish I could see them with my sweet angel.......but even for that we have to wait.

Haven't watched a lot of movies, but I have been into a major reading kick for the past couple of months. I've been sinking into a series a week.

Will catch up on my movie watching come next week, when the two of us can run along to Blockbuster together (so much more fun than using headsets and MSN).

I also read a lot. My favorites are fantasy novels (something similar to Lord of the Rings). My current favorite is The Wheel of Time by former Robert Jordan. This series has been running since 1989. But he died before releasing the 12th and final chapter. I guess I will never know the end of the story unless his family gives the green light on the final manuscript.

I just finished reading the The Southern Vampire Mysteries series (well, what's been released so far), and now I'm rereading it... as I tend to do my first run through a novel/series too quickly for my tastes. For my long-anticipated bus trip down to Florida (in two days, wow!) I'm giving audio books a first try. I don't know how much I'm going to like it... as I'm quite used to being able to reread and skip ahead and everything else at my own leisure, but I guess we shall see.

My tastes are everywhere, though I tend to stick to a certain genre for awhile, then jump elsewhere. My favourite purchasing method is hitting the bargain bin at Chapters, though, and picking up something of interest. Some of my favourite authors have been found that way (or I manage to come across hard covers for real cheap, so bonus).
