Good morning to all, I just got off of the phone with uscis, here is how it went, I gave all information he ask for, then he started read everything I already knew, so I listen for a while and said, thank you but you have told me nothing that I can't read my self, I told him I knew he couldn't give me any information so please transfer me tp a supervisor or a agent above him, he then told me that they couldn't tell me any more then what he told me, and that the 5 months is only a estimate and I would have to wait 30 more days untiull my case is 6 month in waiting, then they could look into it. I told this guy, not true, I would like to hear that from someone above you or a supervisor, he again told me they would tell me the very same thing. I told this guy(very nice) thank you but I still would like to hear it from someone above him, he said ok, and ask me if he could do anything else for me before he transfer my call, I said no and thank you. Another guy got on the phone ask me my full name, receipt #, address, birthday, then he said could I wait, I said yes, 1 minute later he came back and said, you change your address, I said yes, and your office send me a letter stating that I did, he said good, yes I see that we did, he said my case was going to be worked on and I will hear something within 2 week and maybe sooner. I ask him if my case was being worked on now, he said no, but soon I will hear something. I thank the man and told him he was very kind for giving me the information he gave, he then told me to call him anytime if I have any concerns about my case, His name was Rodrigus.

I think things went very well, at lease this guy knew something more then the other guy. To get to the other level you must keep insisting on talking to someone higher then them, even if it is to hear the same thing. Well I hope this helps, good luck to all of us, maybe the fire is set, and Aprils are going to fly out of USCIS today.

Hey everyone,

So we actually did get a response by e-mail saying that they mailed out our change of address on July 29, 2009. It was signed by someone in the Customer Service Unit. Not sure if that is an immigration officer, but they must have been able to see our case if they were able to tell us that confirmation was mailed out on July 29, right? Our status update hasn't changed, though.

Roland will still call on September 11 and insist on talking to a supervisor. We'll see what happens.

Hey Tom....well I had a similar situation as you yesterday. I called and was speaking with this woman. I answered wateva she asked me and then she was tellin me info that I already know....sounds like I knew more than her.....she was like I have to wait 30 more days....I was like no I want to send out a service request....she kept saying mam thats not necessary....blah blah blah...I got so upset with her I told her she is no help to she was telling me everything that I can see on my computer. Like you tom I requested to speak with an immigration officer....she was like thats not necessary they are gonna tell you the same thing....I was like did you not hear me I would like to speak with an immigration officer again she was not listening I was like what is you ID number again.....then I was i understand will you please connect me to an officer....she finally did. The officers name was Brenda, she was very pleasant. She also told me to hold on then she said my case is being reviewed and I should hear something soon but to call back within 2 weeks if I dont hear anything. Then I just checked and I had a touch...YAY!!:dance:

I'm so frustrated with this whole process. We haven't even had a touch yet, but intellectually I know it has to be coming soon. I've been researching options if we go past five months. I have been looking at information from the ombudsman's office and the interesting USCIS responses. There is very little focus on the K-1 or K-3 processes except to denote inequities between the service centers and that K-3 visas are not functioning as legislatively intended to re-unite families faster. If you want to read the latest report, the link is:

http://www.dhs.gov/xlibrary/assets/cisomb_...report_2009.pdf (no USCIS response yet)

In the appendix at the end is the form to create a request for a Case Problem Request Worksheet. It can be filed after your case is outside processing guidelines and other contact with USCIS is unsuccessful (e.g. online case status, contacting the call center). It must be filed in writing because of privacy concerns. They say their mail is scanned and it takes approximately 14 days to be received and then a receipt is issued within 2-4 business days. This would seem to be an alternative to going through a congressman or fling a service request.

I also found in reading the USCIS response to the 2008 annual report some interesting information about the call center, pretty much confirming what people already know.

http://www.dhs.gov/xlibrary/assets/cisomb-...port-fy2008.pdf

100% of calls are recorded. Each Tier 1 CSR has at least two of their daily calls monitored by a supervisor for conformance to the scripts. All Tier 1 CSRs are contractors that are contractually penalized for non-conformance with the scripts. Tier 2 CSRs are not required to use the scripts because their calls are case specific. In 2008, about 11% of the calls were escalated to Tier 2 CSRs. Out of 1.3 million calls, only 10 formal complaints were received. All 10 were investigated. Can you believe that only 10 people bothered enough to actually write a letter?

I think people are so relieved at the end of the process that they forget about making the system work better for the next person. I haven't called yet, but I will for sure if we exceed the 5 month processing window. When I do, I will be sure to record the name of the person I speak with and the date/time of the call. I think the most effective complaints will be about the scripts just intending to provide information about the process rather than the case. Clearly only a Tier 2 CSR can provide any information, so every call must be escalated to achieve anything.

Maybe this will help some of the others on this forum....

Unfortunately, tier 2 is equally as useless. Yes they have more information, but it is still useless information. We have the right to file a service request. However, at least in my case, the letter was equally as vague and useless... it said... wait 6 months and call us back if you havent heard from us.

I hammered on a tier 2 yesterday for 30 minutes and was told my case was fine... but according to the congressional unit at the VSC... I am going through more in depth security checks.

Chris... FYI, I did file a complaint so you can make that number at least 11 ;)

Take it from me, doesn't matter how far you go past 5 months, there is very little you can do in the way of making something happen.

That is the true wonder that is USCIS, they will take their sweet #### time and do it as they feel, if you call them, you just as likely to get a "your case is being processed" as you are a " You're in security checks call back in 180 days" I am convinced that even USCIS doesn't actually know what they are doing...

Still nothing, still waiting....

I applied for a position at the Australian Embassy in DC today, hopefully luck will go our way and Ill get it, its not really the perfect job that i want, however it does make me a diplomat and solve the issue of us being apart as i would then be living in DC for at least the next 2 years.....

But I don't like my chances.

It's not that they don't know what they're doing, they just don't care. They are accountable to no one—not Congress (as I've learned), not the courts (as you've learned), not anyone—and they are not affected personally by the agony they inflict on others through their lackadaisical, unprofessional, and just plain incompetent manner of handling cases. Why take the time and effort to give an accurate answer regarding case status? They can just rattle off some stock answer—who cares if it bears any relation to reality? no one's going to come back and ask them why they said what they did—and get you off the phone.

The whole system is so broken it's not even funny.

Improved USCIS Form G-325A (Biographic Information)

Form field input font changed to allow entry of dates in the specified format and to provide more space for addresses and employment history. This is the 6/12/09 version of the form; the current version is 8/8/11, but previous versions are accepted per the USCIS forms page.
