Good luck to you guys! Hopefully all goes well, and we'll get to hear good news from you before the weekend is through!

So, I returned to work this Monday, after having spent three weeks down in Florida. Two days after returning, my boss and his wife left for their three week vacation, so I am stuck here with no one to interact with and nothing to distract me! Not pleasant.

So... in an effort to keep the thread alive, I will pose a question to everyone here.

What led up to the decision that you beneficiaries would be the ones relocating to reside with your future spouse? Why not the other way around?

Sorry to hear you are stuck at work without anyone to talk to!

I pretty much volunteered to relocate before a large discussion took place. I only moved to Toronto 18 months ago from the UK where as she has lived in Pennsylvania all her life. We both figured it would be much easier for me to move again as I have very little keeping me in Toronto besides a steady job where as she has family and life long friends to sacrifice if she were to move up here.

I guess we were lucky and that we had a pretty simple decision compared to what other couples must have to go through!

How did you two come to your decision?

Good question Sam. In my case we also discussed this for a good time. But at the end the decision was pretty easy. I'm a civil engineer and have a steady permanent job here in Puerto Rico. If I were to relocate to Romania there would be a really long time until I get to work in my field since the engineer's license is not reciprocal all over the world. Heck no even in all the states in US. This is the same for the states also. So in short I would be leaving a steady well paid job here to move there were the salaries are pretty low. She even told me that me looking for a job there was not a good idea for us.

In her case, she's is not working at the moment. As family members goes she only has her parents.....no brothers or sisters or cousins or nephews or uncles. Nothing else. She has very little to keep her there.

So at the end we agreed on her moving here. I know is a big decision for her and I swear in front of God that I will make it up for her. I will make her the happiest woman in this planet.

PEACE my friends.........

Originally, we discussed it both ways. We played with the idea of him coming to stay here, but that wasn't a long discussion.

In the end, logic won out - he has a well-paying position at a large company, I have a minimum wage job that only supports my living with my parents, and isn't stable in the least. It wouldn't been much harder to try to create a life for us here than down there with his family.

There were other things involved too... He's a big city guy, always has been. From Cleveland to Orlando, my city would've felt like hick-ville. Heck, a lot of the time it even gets to me. I could certainly see myself in the city; though it would take some getting used to, I'm certainly not a small-town gal. Also, the ease of living with his family, the connections that would enable me to find a job fairly easily, etc... all in all, it just seemed like it was the better way to go.

And, there was definitely more of a hesitation on his end to move. There was certainly less of one on my own end, as I have to real draw to this area, outside of my parents. That will be hard, but doable.

So at the end we agreed on her moving here. I know is a big decision for her and I swear in front of God that I will make it up for her. I will make her the happiest woman in this planet.

That made me smile. She sure is a lucky woman.

I'm hoping for good news too, but haven't heard anything from Chris today. And may not unfortunately he had to have his nose fixed up at the doctors (drilling out excess bone from the nasal cavity) so there is a good chance he is passed out on meds and hasn't spoken to our lawyer (he had an exam at one when court went in, then start to the doctors).

Hopefully he will be able to call and pass on some news, but i might have to wait till tomorrow.

Chris and I never really discussed the "which country" in too much depth but like many others here it was a case of he had a secure well paying job whilst i was roaming the world doing substitute teaching, so logically it just seemed better to go his way, which doesn't bother me in the least because ill be honest I love it over there.

So figured I would kick things off for an April filers group, since I couldn't find one :)

Please come and join me, hopefully this time we will be successful.....

- Mara

We sent our I-129-F in the 3rd week of April to the California Service Center. Our NOA1 date I think is May 1. I have a question for anyone who might know. Of course most of the time our files are just sitting there, but when someone there does something with the file they scan it in the computer and it is called a "touch" correct? Well, this last Thursday and Friday our file was "touched." I am wondering if that means that they are processing our application? I sure hope so....if so, it is a whole month ahead of schedule. Wow!!

Welcome to the April filers!

A touch can happen at any time - whether processing the application, or simply switching hands. The file is supposed to be scanned each time it is moved so that they have track of it in their systems.

Having said that, anymore a lot of folks aren't seeing anything on the online tracking system past their NOA1 - they don't even know about their NOA2 until the hard copy shows up in the mail, so it is truly hard to say.

Out of curiosity, what's everyone organizing their paperwork with? I'm wondering if I'm the only crazy one here.

Only the top binder is paperwork... the bottom one is CDs. (I'm not that OCD.)
