Weird interview demand at CJ

Hey everybody,

My fiancee went to CJ on Tuesday and went to the Embassy on Wednesday. Everything went fine in the interview-- the Consul asked him a lot of questions about his previous marriage and then at the end, gave him a piece of paper that has a list of possible missing documents. One of the lines says "Other", giving the option for the Consul to write in something else. He wrote that I (the American fiancee) have to present myself in person at the CJ Embassy! Has anyone ever heard of this???? So I guess we have to make another appt and go there together. It seems completely weird to me.

Yes I have heard of this before. Email them and let them know when you will be available to come in.

Yes, I have seen this posted many times at various consulates. Some a lot father away than CJ. The nebulous part of this process is that the consulate needs to be satisfied it is a legitimate relationship not intended to circumvent immigration processes. That gives them really braod latitude and places all the burden on the applicant with no means to appeal, they have no "right" to a visa.

Bascially, you need to do what they say, whatever that is.

i have seen this before, seems kind of stupid but in immigration ur at the mercy of the embassy
