hey all

our file is approved on 23 january and we've sent all docs needed.. but in last lawyer asked for original birth and marriage certificate.. we'd given him those yesterday .. he said he has submitted DS -230 and now he will submit BC and MC.. how can it possible.. upto my knowledge we've to send original certi. along with DS-230.........

so what sould i belive??? had he sent DS-230 before and now sending BC and MC or he'd not sent anything yet and misguiding us??

so my case is not complete yet, right.. he says yet 2-3 weeks NVC will take to review our case.. so is it possible by any means to get interview date in May??

the wait seems enldless to me ...

i want to call to NVC to check my case status to know what our lawyer is actually doing. can anyone give me the numbar and i'm in india so,in which time i can call?? do they ask anything else than case number?? pls guide us.

Until recently, NVC only used to require photocopies of all civil documents. Now NVC requires originals. Unfortunately, many immigration lawyers does not keep up with the rules, and kept submitting documents like they always have in the past. I agree with the previous posts, your lawyer may have just submitted photocopies and received a RFE, now he probably needs the originals to complete the case.

Do call the NVC and confirm the status of your case. If you already paid the IV bill, which allows your lawyer to send in the documents in the first place, then your case definitely should be at the NVC.

today morning i called in NVC they said our case is thr but some in fo missing ........ and its becoz of BC and MC which lawyer'd not submitted originals.. they said allow us 6-8 weeks to review the case

They say 6-8 weeks but once they recieved your package of missing or incomplete documents it will usually take between 7-10 untill its reviewed and updated in the system. Wish you all the best of luck for the rest of your journey!!!

It is not required for you to change the name in your passport, if you change the name it serves as an additional piece of proof. Also you submitted a copy of the beneficiary passport as part of the DS-230 submission.

It took my wife 3-4 weeks to get a new passport. You should ask your lawyer, why he wants you to change your name in the passport, after you have just submitted a copy of it with the DS-230, and so late in the game.

thts true. but lawyer gave the reason tht it is just for the shake of visa onl. he said the name on visa will appear as per passport...

i m afraid if it takes longer sometimes than usual and by the time i get interview call than it may create problem ..

still i will give one call to lawyer ,to ask what actually he wan me to do....
