We are the luckiest people on here! I have been worried since I first met my wife regarding my income. Self employed and report less than desirable income. Contested a denial in Manila and had it reversed probably really helped as they red flagged due to the income issue and did not look through the rest of the papers. This was the big win!

Appointment in Detroit: :crying:

Sworn us in and asked all the mandatory things on questionnaire :innocent:

Approved and stamped

Thats it!

Everything is pre-screened by workers and the interviewer themselves prior to the appointment thus my surprise with no RFE's

DId not ask for ID's

Did not ask to see passport

No I-693

Did not ask for vaccinations or TB test

No co-sponsor

Did not ask for tax returns

Did not ask for bank statements

I-864 not signed

Did not ask for proof of co-habitation

Did not ask for pictures

Today was a good day... (Thinks Ice Cube-It Was A Good Day)

Follow the directions on this forum and organize everything very well.

Submit more documentation than required, I believe the more you submit the less the chance of them spotting anything that might be lacking.

Make sure everything is correct and use a cover letter documenting everything in your package.

Thats all I can think of right now, still kinda in shock about the whole thing.

Awesome!! 0ur interview is in Detroit on Tuesday. From what I hear Detroit is a cake walk. I hope ours goes that smoothly. We too share the less than desirable income issue. Anyway, A BIG congratulations to you both!!

Thank you for posting your experience.

Did they say you would get your GC in 7 to 10 days?

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

Thank you!

I would not say cakewalk for all, there was 1 skinny interviewer guy, he called someone, told them he wants to look through their paperwork they brought in a tone that did not set well with us. He took the paperwork and told them to sit back down and wait which at that point seemed very unusual. Thank God we did not get called by him. We did not see anyone exit the interviewing area while we were waiting. Walking out of there everyone was staring at our reactions...we couldnt help but smile and laugh.

Where we sat I could see "room 8" which is where you drop your notice, it seems like they divide them up amongst the different interviewers in some way maybe like country of origin or how complete the files are. The guy we had was familiar with the Philippines and even greeted my wife in her native language.

In retrospect: As soon as we were at his office and ready to sit down he told us to stop and that he would swear us in... he stared into "my" eyes as he swore us in through the entire process and not my wifes for an instant, I'll bet that has a lot to do with success or not in there. Imagine if you are knowingly doing something wrong, bet they can see it in your eyes. They know who is who I'm sure. Your whole application will be in a folder with everything you sent in. It was tabbed with 5 or 6 different colored tabs so I am sure they know what they need to watch for. I tried to get a better look at how it was organized but where I sat didnt allow much more than a peek at it.

Good luck with it and make sure you PM me after the interview.

And the best part is your interview was in Detroit (I live in Wayne County). Looking forward to starting a similar thread in the near future!

I will, and thanks so much for this helpful information.....it helps to know what to expect. As I say my many prayers, I will ask the Almighty to please not let us get the skinny guy.
