Question About Proof

On some of my boarding passes, there isn't a year shown, or even a date (since they took the date stub on me a few times).

Is it okay if I write on the photocopies (or next to the photocopied tickets) the dates since it doesn't show it?

I'm unsure if this is a no-no for them or not.

Oh, and during one trip with my fiance we went to Vegas, would you consider hotel reservations for that DURING my trip to see him good proof?

Yes, if you make sure not to write on the actual ticket image (like your altering them).

Reservations, no, not that good, actual copy of the receipt, good.

Passport stamps are good for evidence, to balance the other stuff you have.

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.

WARNING: Phrases in this post may sound meaner than they were intended to be. Read the Adjudicator's Field Manual from USCIS

Hmm, okay.

Cause I'm taping my tickets to paper to save myself tons of photocopying.

So make sure not to write on the photocopy picture of the ticket, but under/beside is okay?

That's good to know.

Mkay, thank you.

Some of my boarding passes were missing the date on them too (maybe just the year though), for the same reason. I wrote on the photocopies (next to the ticket) the dates they were from. Then, behind that was the supporting evidence of the trip, like some receipts showing that i was there during that time.

So, my advice is just include whatever you can to support that those boarding passes were the valid ones :) Scans of your passport pages with the stamps from your trip are good to support it.

And yeah, hotel reservations are good proof in my opinion :) Anything to show that the both of you were in the same place at the same time, within the past 2 years is what they like. So if you have those, and he has some receipts with his credit card or anything from that trip to vegas too... even better.

passport stamps are your best proof of having met in person. As Bobby suggessted above, do not write on the boarding passes (copies) themselves but do make a note on the side regarding dates. They should correspond with the dates on your passport stamps anyway.

Not too much 'on-going relationship proof' evidence needs to be submitted with the petition but I would recommend sending some.

Be sure to check out the Canadian Regional forums here on VJ. You'll find invaluable information from those good folks regarding the process at both Embassies in Canada.

good luck!

I only ended up getting one passport stamp, but there's some on my boarding passes. (Dunno what's up with that).

Do they want the actual receipts or are copies of those fine too?

Cause I don't mind sending in the originals.

I only kept them for that intent. Haha.

Send 'copies' of everything. Lots of people have had their petitions 'lost' by the mail service or uscis. Keep the originals just in case. ;)

It's very common for Canadian/US travellers not to have passport stamps on each trip. Send what you have. :)

You want to keep the originals of your tickets, etc. Unless original/certified documents are requested you should submit copies. You may asked to provide originals at an interview.

Don't worry about all the copying. You will end up killing a couple of trees before you're done with the entire process.

Maybe not so germane to the OP's question, and I agree with the other posters suggestions about writing next to / under the actual image, is another use of common day technology.

My Alla, being the intelligent woman she is (and one of the many reasons I love her so), on her flight to Moscow from Kiev, after we had met, did the following.

The Ukraine customs had stamped her boarding pass with the Ukraine stamp but most of it including the date was on the section that the airline would tear off and keep.

So thinking quickly, she took out her digital camera and took a picture of the entire boarding pass prior to the gate.

I then used this image plus a copy of the short stubby piece with part of a stamp on it, as part of our Proof of Meeting section of our K-1 petition.

Just a suggestion.
