He should have been asked at his medical if he's ever had it, and probably answered yes (which is good).

He has no idea if he's ever had the chickenpox and he says they never asked him.

We've already been waiting 4 months, if they send an RFE, I can imagine that will be another few months delay.

:(

I don't think you have anything to worry about.

I'm pretty sure I saw somewhere that it's not needed or available in the UK (someone please confirm that though). If the CS also signed off saying that everything was complete, then that's fine.

Worst case, an RFE only adds a few weeks. It won't double your time or anything.

Head gaskets apparently cost well over a thousand anyway and since the car was 15 years old... might as well call it a day. We bought a new one that also has better gas mileage so it's for the best.

Also with the good news rolling... my husband has a full-time job! :dancing: We've been waiting since JUNE for ths job to make him full-time but they couldn't get the funding so kept telling us to hold on. Well yesterday someone quit on the spot so he gets to take her position.

I agree with primahen, I'm also dreaming of a mild Christmas. I understand the excitement though Magpie... I loved when it snowed here until it got up to knee-level and I had to start shoveling it ever day.

:D Grats to you and your hubby! I'm still waiting...and waiting...and waiting. I've applied wherever I've been able to think of applying, and I suppose it's a yucky season to be applying for jobs (not to mention the rather lethargic economy).

And y'know, finding stuff for older vehicles is a pain in the bum these days...there's new stuff out every year, so you have to look for post-production parts, and those can cost a bit sometimes. I'm glad you got the upgrade though :D especially if it's cheaper than paying for the gaskets.

With the snow, poor Knight really isn't fond if it, as it has a habit of sitting on the roads. Worse still is when you get black ice, and 4WD or studded tires don't really help too much with that. Still, it looks pretty... :P

Magpie.

Green card in hand today! Not really green though is it! Anyway I shall be carrying it around from now on like a good little immigrant :)

Been a bit busy- so just reading been up on the posts. Nich, I hope you are feeling better. Gemmie, sorry to hear about your car derailing your trip, I hope something turns up which means you can still go. I know my homesickness kicked a week or so ago it's kinda weird.

And all this talk of snow is getting me wildly excited, can't wait to see some proper snow here in maybe Jan or Feb, I was lucky to get half a day on the south coast in England. Apparently DC is very pretty in the snow, although I am prepared for the novelty to wear of after a day or so :)

On with the job hunt for me too....had an interview today but we'll see. Craigslist is great though huh?! Good luck to everyone going through the search too.

Hey All,

Just checking in, I have done a couple of bits of updating of the spreadsheet this morning. Congrats to all of those who have received EAD's and GC's! Sorry you cant make it home Gemmie, but the long term need of having a car over here is so much more pressing than it ever would have been in England :(

I have a crazeee couple of weeks coming up. I am moving this weekend, started my new job officially yesterday (where I was made by my colleagues to talk constantly so that they could hear my accent) and just a note on belongings arriving...mine are FINALLY being delivered to my new place on Friday (so it worked out well, I dont even have to unpack them here!) but I do hope there is more left than one side of a box (Poor gemmie! grrrr)

If I have missed anything on the spreadsheet, please feel free to PM me. I wont be around as much as I was, but I check the computer at least once a day.

Hello, back from my holiday in Abu Dhabi, it was great to see my mum!! The weather was fantastic, we had tickets for the Grand Prix which was awesome and we saw Kings of Leon and Aerosmith in concert....Fantastic!!!!!! Travelling on AP docs was no problem, went to secondary processing (at JFK this means back of the baggage hall) where they stamped both documents and gave me them back, all took about 15mins.

My Greencard arrived on the 21st Oct 2 days after we left!!!!!!! Can't believe it's here! We did the whole thing with no RFE's, I didn't do the Dr Arnold thing either which I worried about! I have to say Thank You for everyone's help here, it was nice to ask questions and be advised on stuff that didn't make sense :)

Congrats to everyone getting approvals, GC's etc, and good luck to everyone waiting. Nich Nich I hope you feel better and a special thanks for all your help (F)

I suppose the next step is to get a job  Not too much going on here in Bucks County PA but I'm sure there is something I can do!!! I'll still look at the forum and see how everyone is doing, it's always good to "talk" to fellow brits

:D Wowee, congrats to people who got their green cards! Emma, Abu Dhabi sounded amazing...I'm not really a fan of Kings of Leon, but I am of Aerosmith :D waaaaah, not fair! Good luck with finding a job...I'm still waiting to hear back about various applications on my end :: sigh :: but my step-brother-in-law's fiancee (what a mouthful!) said that I might be able to work part-time at her mum's bakery, so hopefully that'll be at least something.

Good luck to your hubby, Kelly -- taking additional classes sounds good at this point. If Knight and I could afford it, I might have done some courses for specific jobs (despite my degree, they need more mechanics and that kind of thing up here, and it pays well), but looks like we'll just have to wait and see what happens.

Hi Everyone!

Just checking in to say hi!

Was feeling homesick for a while but my girls' have been over alot and I'm fully stocked up with Aeros', Galaxys and Dairy Milk for Christmas. Even Advent calenders for the kids.

I'm feeling much better now. I'm at school doing a Nursing Degree and also studying for my GED which I've decided to do as prior to going to school most of the jobs that were available required high school transcripts and I was unable to get one. I was actually removed from an online university due to the fact my school in London informed them that we don't have transcripts. So that sucked! Lucky for me my new school did not require it although now I'm doing a nursing degree I have to do the GED.

Concentrating now on my driving. Gulp! This wrong side of the road thing is crazy! Have my learners permit so my hubby says I can take the test whenever I'm ready.

Good luck to everyone waiting and Congrats to everyone approved.

See you guys in the Removal of Conditions forum

Congrats on the degree starting. It's a shame your school wasn't able to get them transcripts, I don't think many places do. I know if I asked my school for them, they would be like "what?"

Good luck on the driving!

Seems I'm one of the last ones waiting for the green card.. I check every day. No touches or anything since biometrics. Hopefully it will come quick so I can move on with the next 2 years. :D

Hmmm we never considered the high school transcripts thing. I guess we'll cross that bridge when Pat gets her EAD.

She's driven once since arriving here... took the back roads to the grocery. Did a pretty good job of it although she has to learn that a Dodge Dakota pickup truck has a lot more weight and doesn't quite stop as fast as a Toyota Aygo. (the car she owned in Manchester)

For off-topic news, the kitchen remodeling is coming along and there is actually an end in sight. We stripped it down to the wall studs, replaced windows, added patio doors and bought new cabinets/appliances. Thankfully we're not hosting Thanksgiving this year, but it will be complete by Christmas.
