I mean changing my name. We went to the office a few weeks ago and they (rudely) told me that I needed a green card to do that. I asked if it was OK if I used my EAD and she (rudely) told me that "yes, that's what I said". Gotta love ignorance.

Vegas, I wouldn't get another medical done. I just used my incomplete DS3025 and sent in a record of having the vaccinations afterwards. No problems. I advise using Dr. Arnold.

Thanks Gemmie.......

I have an appointment at the civil surgeons office near my house on monday...i have been told by the receptionist that if i do not need a medical i can just bring all my Knightsbridge and my own doctors records into the office with the I 693 and the doctor will transfer everything over....seems too easy to be true...so i will expect either a huge bill for this or prepare to be told i need a medical...lol! i have Dr Arnolds number on hand if this be the case......

Planning to go to the SSN office at some point early next week to change my name to my married one.....

Also a trip to the Records office to get a certified copy of my marriage certificate.....

.......I STILL DONT DRIVE OUT HERE.....so everything is twicw the pain in the butt! ha ha!!!

Ah, I see, thanks! Good luck with getting it changed. (I think I was lucky when I got my SSN they were very quick and polite, hope they are again when I have to go back!)

:D Grats Gemmie!

I'm also playing the painful waiting game of "waiting for people to get back to me". This is the bit I hate the most, and I don't like sitting on my hands. Pestering people is a double-edged sword -- either people try and help you sooner, or get annoyed and spend longer, and sometimes, you can't do either.

Raaaaaaar!

Magpie.

hey, thanks for that, I did exactly that with the wage he now gets. right 1 more question, i dont have a ds3205, from my medical, i do have a copy of my vaccinations from my g.p in london. I would prefer to wait to go and see a civil surgeon because of the cost and because it looks like most of them here want to give you the frigging vaccines even if you have already had them, and I have.. Should i just wait for the rfe? also should i really do the separate apps as you did, how much quicker is the EAD dealt with as a result?

thanks nic

About the 3 separate applications---that's what they are. You are applying for AOS (green card), EAD (work permit), and AP (travel). They are processed at different places, so you complete each as a stand alone application as they will go their separate ways once received. Are you asking if you need to do EAD and AP? Sure, it's free with the AOS filing and just a couple of extra photocopies and photos. You could get authorized to work sooner than waiting for the GC. And the travel document is a "just in case" thing. What if somebody got sick or died suddenly. You would be stuck in the USA waiting on a green card. The AP comes in 60 days, many sooner.

DS3025-- If you have had every (age appropriate) shot and booster needed for AOS recorded on a DS3025, then it's good for filing AOS. But if you got boosters later or shots in the US, then the DS3025 isn't a complete up to date record. That's when you need a civil surgeon to look at your various proofs (DS3025, GP in London, maybe health dept in the US or a US doctor). The civil surgeon will put all your records on one form (I693) and seal it for submitting with AOS.

thanks nic. yeah i'm going to do that today, with the separate photocopies for each one. I wasnt asking about AP, I'm in Detroit so getting AP isnt a problem as the uscis office is around the corner, if i want to book an infopass appointment. My medical and vacinnation record was up to date when i left the uk. so what i meant was should i have a copy of this thing. However I believe it was in that big envelope, it will be ok. a bridge to cross l8r. right off to do the school run. Again.!!

:D grats at Gemmie! AOS isn't too far away, hopefully...

Blaaah. Best Buy got back to me (I did apply there for Geek Squad, please don't throw bricks at me) and said that I passed the questionnaire thing, but I'd only likely get offered seasonal work. It's better than nothing. Now to wait for the interview call.

Congrats on the green card, Jim/Christy.

Hey Magpie, it's work.. you can at least take care of Christmas presents, plus think of all the cool discounts you might get.

Well done on getting it sent, primahen. Feel that weight being lifted. The AOS is really painless, MUCH better than the K1. Everything seems to be running pretty smoothly for the UK'ers. We got our EAD and AP in just over a month. Good luck!

Ditto to Jim and Christy -- woohoo! Hold onto that tight :D.

Also ditto to primahen, and thankums everyone for the words. Figured I'd try applying at Lowe's and stuff too, just to see what I get back. It's a funny time of year to apply because of Christmas coming up, but hey, I could get lucky, right?

Hallowe'en tomorrow :D anybody dressing up? Me and the girls in the family are being female Batman villains...all the guys except one are being the male ones.
