Eeeeeeeeeeeee, Ellie and David + Jim and Christy -- congratulations! What wonderful news that must be.

I recieved my degree on paper today :D so eeee for me too! It also looks like the Arc of Anchorage (they're a psychiatric institute) needs people, and they'd like to have me. Knight's going to be working there as part of his degree placement, and it seems such rewarding work. I went with Knight when he was meeting his clients and his client manager, and it just felt so right being there and talking to the kids.

:D So, I think I've found my calling. I don't need any kind of background in it, and it's a chance to help people who've had to deal with the kind of thing I've had to do growing up (though I've nowhere near undergone what some of these kids and people have).

Magpie.

That's awesome, Magpie. I've just got my degree in psychology and would love to do something like that. Go you. :)

Congrats on the EAD, guys... what work are you gonna look for, Ellie?

I have NO idea Gemmie. I certainly dont want to go back to doing what I did before. It was a very lonely job, I worked from home and then any contact I did have with people in my company was very tense because I was contracted to go around auditing projects and then writing tell-tale reports on what they were doing right and wrong, whether they were complying with their contracts, how much money they were losing through incorrect interpretation of the rules and recommending they change their processes. I was not popular! David earns enough for me to go part-time somewhere for a while.....I'm thinking LUSH :)

I just bet I end up doing quality assurance and guideline application again....that always happens to me. I think I'd like to go into leasing though. It's huge here.....and I love contract law. (<<<<Freak)

I'm just so excited about the EAD! I didn't expect for it to even be approved for at least a couple of weeks.

Congratulations Ellie and David and Jim and Christy. We had good news too! Our EAD case hadn't been appearing online but I thought I'd check it again just in case having seen the approvals and this time it DID work and said they ordered production of the card on Oct 1st :dance: I was laughing with Julie cos this means no more lie ins for me, the firm I interviewed with a few weeks ago told me to let them know when I have authorization so I am going to wait till I actually have the card and cross my fingers that the job is still there. I'm the same as you Ellie, wasn't expecting approval for a couple of weeks

:D Everything looks so wonderfully shiny at the moment. I haven't had a touch since the 10th of September on my green card, but all of you now know the feeling of "woohoo! I can do stuff now!" :P. It takes such a weight off, because you get some measure of independence back. Now the trick is for me to get a vehicle I can drive into Anchorage with...

Knight's step-mum's also said she'll help us get our own place once I start working. It's pretty easy to pay rent out here, and because there's a ton of animal-lovers out here, it's not hard to find an apartment which allows pets. :D I'm planning on getting my Bean a little friend once we move out, because he keeps pouncing on poor Flurry (in her sunset years, now), who doesn't appreciate the whole "play" thing.

Stalkstalkstalkstalk...POUNCE!

By the way, can someone link me the spreadsheet page again, please? I had it bookmarked, and now the bookmark has gone walkabout.

Yay! Congrats everyone who just got EADs and APs. It must feel great knowing you can get back out to the real world now! I'm so excited for you. If you don't mind saying please keep us updated with the work you find - I always find it really interesting the different things people do.

I'm hoping to hear something from uscis maybe this week or next, I've started updating my resume anyway. Good news is we aren't moving to Texas anymore (army changed their minds again) and I hopefully get my husband back this week yay!!
