Uh-oh: Nich is in "pissed off principal" mode. Take cover, folks.....

I'm scared

Yeah, I know you're both shakin' in your boots. Daymo, you know I'm a "hand holder" because you once told me to quit helping the idiots. BUT when people start using the words "really pissed off...stupid office... twats...what douches...we do things properly and still they make it difficult" when somebody is trying to follow the guidelines of their state law. Well I think they should research the problem and see the state worker isn't the stupid one. A better reaction IMO is "I'm so mad/disappointed/annoyed that I have to wait on a driver's license until I have legal status in the US." It ain't easy being an alien, and furious impatience with hourly workers gets you nowhere.

sorry :( with us its more that we are irritated that every time we have gone, they've had a different story. i definitely understand the reasons. i just wish they really ALL did know what they were talking about, because atleast here, they dont. i knew it was pretty unlikely he wouldn't be able to get it, but then other people in my same state HAVE gotten it. so yes, here, sometimes the state worker is the stupid one.

Oh, Marm...:( I can't imagine how crushed you feel. Keep hoping...like it's been said, it could have been an error on anyone's part, and you might be out of AP. Please hang in there for all of us, we're with you.

:: Hugs ::

Maybe someone could send Nich in with her "furious principal-fu"to sort it out.

Magpie.

Thanks Magpie and everyone else! We have emailed the embassy to see what's going on...I wish someone like Nich was the person handling the processing of my fiance's case . These people just don't understand the seriousness and sensitivity of it all :(

Visa Journey completed, but we are still here to provide support! :)

Your right, sometimes there is some inconsistency of application of rules, but (and this is not directed at you Laura but is of course aimed at Miss G's post) there are more appropriate ways of expressing your disappointment.

Miss G I skipped right over your post because your second post regarding the license situation was after Marm had informed the board that she had been given the wrong information about her case and her fiances visa was STILL in AP. If anybody has earned the right to come shouting and screaming on these boards about things being unfair then she has. I bet she'd give anything for her fiance to be in this country right now, arguing with officials about driving licenses.

I understand everyone has different priorities, and I am in NO WAY speaking on Marm's behalf, but I will always ignore posts where people use language like that. Your frustrated, I'm frustrated and I curse like a sailor, but there is a time and a place.....and I dont want to read it.

And I'm not telling anyone how to wipe their bum.

exactly, there's no consistency. my husband was we''ed off :P too and tried to call another branch to find out.. I'm planning on going to another secretary of state to see if that makes a difference, and like your husband I went several times before..

the person that i was unfortunate to get didnt seem to know what was needed, she had to get this paper out to find out and then still questioned my proof of address when the lady the previous week approved everything, i hadnt studied the booklet for the test, and thats the only reason why I didnt do the test then.. I really dont see what would have changed in 1 week???

You could have fooled me. This thread is for AOS issues after all, like it or not, Miss G is in the correct forum for posting her issues, regardless of how well anyone feels she expressed them. Your post is patronising and you would have been better off not mentioning it.

Before this snowballs into something ridiculous, I'd suggest that people stop before this turns into a poop-slinging contest. I didn't appreciate the fact that some disrespectful words have been slung around either, and yes, people are free to rant on here. Dealing with bureaucracy is a pain in the bum, but we've all had to go through it; we've all dealt with it. We're here to support one another, and name-calling isn't going to solve anything. Yes, feel free to voice your frustrations -- that's what we're here for.

There is nothing wrong with Nich saying that she was offended; we're all entitled to our opinions. There are many state workers on the forums trying to get their own spouses and family through the system, too. They're people too, at the end of the day.

Miss G, I know you've been running into dead ends, but there was no need to make your "1950s" remark, nor anything about people telling you how to wipe your bum. Nobody's telling you that. And nobody's trying to antagonize you, either. We've all come across state workers and such who don't seem to have two brain cells to knock together.

There are posting rule inconsistencies, yes, but it's a better idea if we move on from the issue and focus on other things. It's going to get very silly otherwise.

Ooh, look, a squirrel!

Magpie.

Hear, hear.

Well, changing the subject I guess, I had some good news today - biometrics for AOS and EAD scheduled for 8th Oct. Things are rolling along it seems at the moment, fingers crossed it continues because I can sense my boredom setting in already, especially since new husband is away on army training for a few weeks. Doing the usual stuff like language classes, online courses, keeping fit etc. but its not quite the same as having a paying job. I am looking into volunteering too and have been reading posts about the legal situation before EAD - it still sounds a bit dodgy to me? As in, you can't expect any compensation or benefit, even if a benefit is showing on your resume that you were happy to something useful even though you couldn't work?? Any experiences in here?
