OK, barging in again  to tell you all...ignore the happy ranting posts...:(

I called DOS again today, spoke to 2 different reps, both confirmed that he is still in AP. I don't know why the DOS rep yesterday had to tell us that the visa is issued and spend a good 2-3 minutes congratulating me. So moral of the story: DOS reps can and do lie. And in this case, she is getting away with it, because I didn't get her name, so there is nothing I can do except tell my congressman/senators and I doubt they will do anything. Fact is he is still in AP :( And when he does get the visa, I am going to wait until it is in his hands, in front of him before I get all excited like I did.

Still waiting....

Congrats to all those who got their EAD/APs/Green card approvals recently. :)

Oh sweetheart. I am so sorry. Giving you hope like that is way worse than just giving you the same information over and over. Like Nich I'll be hanging with ya, ever hopeful that, that visa is just around the corner.

Has anyone found a British food website that ships over here without charging an arm and a leg? The cheapest I have found so far is 31.99 pounds for up to 5kg weight, which i'm not prepared to pay. Any ideas? I'm specifically looking for just my baking stuff, syrup, treacle, chocolate etc. Or if anyone knows where you can get it out here?? Oh, if anyone has found puff pastry PLEASE tell me where ;)

Marm, don't be too disheartened just yet. After my interview, I waited a few days then called DOS for one person to tell me one day that my visa had been issued but that my daughters HAD NOT BEEN APPROVED!! I nearly had a heart attack and was beside myself until the next day, when the courier txt and said my VISAS were on their way. I have had mixed respones from DOS more than once. I doubt very much they got it wrong when they told you it had been approved. Call again later and ask to speak to a supervisor if you still get a conflicting response.

World market has golden syrup and treacle and chocolate but it aint cheap, if you have a large Fiesta super market they carry a lot of english products and a lot cheaper than anywhere else I have found but not seen flour here, I love to bake and did cake decorating as a hobby but nearly died when I saw the price of fondant icing here so I am on the look out for a wholesaler

Must comment on the name calling I find offensive in this thread. You are not "entitled" to anything until you have been extended permanent residency by the US. A K1 visa gets you a one time entry into the United States for a duration of 90 days. Period. You've been given that, but "pending" something else doesn't give you any privileges. You could be denied. Until you have something other than an approval to enter the US and remain 90 days, don't expect to do anything but wait your turn like the other ladies and gentlemen here are doing.

I was actually wondering last night about the possibility of opening up a British foods shop here. Still not sure that my thoughts will get past the initial idea phase, but it's very tempting!

Thanks, I haven't heard of Fiesta, i'll look into them right now

Ok, I'm obsessed with food, but incase people out there are looking for British products and haven't heard of this site, try:

www.jollygrub.com

If you order a fair amount the shipping is actually fairly reasonable. I'm off to order my treacle and digestives :D

Thanks for that website, I'll be looking into it. :)

I'm trying to write my resume.. my husband says that you only include things like education and work experience (in fact, on his own resume, he literally only has qualifications and a list of job history) but I'm used to including things like an overview (personality, points of interest, hobbies, etc). Is it true that I should no longer do this? He says that everything else goes in the cover-letter.

Hang in there, Marm.. I know I already said this, but you never know if it's just a glitch in the system. I am hoping so badly that it is, and that he recieves his visa in the post ASAP. You deserve it more than anyone right now.

Yeah, I know you're both shakin' in your boots. Daymo, you know I'm a "hand holder" because you once told me to quit helping the idiots. BUT when people start using the words "really pissed off...stupid office... twats...what douches...we do things properly and still they make it difficult" when somebody is trying to follow the guidelines of their state law. Well I think they should research the problem and see the state worker isn't the stupid one. A better reaction IMO is "I'm so mad/disappointed/annoyed that I have to wait on a driver's license until I have legal status in the US." It ain't easy being an alien, and furious impatience with hourly workers gets you nowhere.
