Shaz--Oh the moving in party.....how about some moving in help???? Nope, you're all crippled now and would be useless. But anytime there's a concert in Houston you like, come on down. A lot of concerts are at the Woodlands Pavilion (not really in Houston) and that's a short 15 minutes from the new house. That Lancashire guy actually drove down to the concert from Arlington and he said it was 3.5 hours to the Woodlands. I suspected Hinder was more your type than Nickelback. Woodlands Pavilion is an outdoor amphitheater sort of place but Nick liked the sound better than at the Toyota Center (downtown Houston.) The whole place was redone and upgraded after hurricane damage last September. There's covered reserved seating, then general admission on the hill. (Fake hill, LOL, this is totally flat country.)

Daymo---sorry about saying you supported Manchester. Must remember

Good luck on your resume writing folks. (we don't use the term CV so much.) The key is to make yourself look good. There are so many suggestions and templates out there, but who is to say which one is preferred except the website pushing it. Write several versions depending on the specific job you are applying for. Include key things that would fit that job and don't elaborate as much on something that doesn't relate if you've got an abundance of varied experience and need to focus it. American resumes are big on verbs or action words to say what you did at your previous job. Instead of saying "head clerk at Marks and Spencer", you say managed shoe department, supervised department staff, provided customer support, organized merchandise displays.....

I will come down as soon as I can sit longer than 5 mins at a time otherwise it will take me 3 weeks to drive to you

So happy we got cable today I will be able to watch Greys yay

Congrats on your permit and AP! That was quick (for the AP). That must be a relief... I still need to get ready for that written test, do you know any useful tips? ;)

Also, we filed our AOS today. Can we be added to the spreadsheet?

I THINK we got everything correct but of course now that it's sent, I'm trying not to obsess over things that we might have missed. No biggie though. If we get an RFE, we get an RFE, I'm not going to stress too much about it. Here's hoping I get the AP soon so I can go to England before Christmas and find a job so that I can start building my independence back. :)

Ooohhhh...Don't run over a bear or moose. You'll get the hang of the wrong side quickly. LOL at Nick who's been here almost a year now. He was looking at a car on AutoTrader in the UK that his daughter was interest in. He started laughing because he said his first reaction was "the steering wheel is on the wrong side!!!" I guess he's adjusted real well.

Your state should have an online manual to study or give out free ones at the local driving office. Every state has different laws and rules of the road. Read/study the manual to prepare.

You're added to the spreadsheet. :star: for filing.

Thankums guys! :D

Gemmie, do what I did to pass today and don't think of it as a life or death thing. Also, forget everything you think you know (as in, don't think about UK laws). Some of the questions are common sense but you should look over the DUI laws and insurance stuff (it comes up) and my test required me to answer 16 out of 20 questions correctly. The manual is your friend :D.

I'm gonna drive today, Nich -- I'll try not to hit any bears or moose (or people).

yeay.. thnks that just inspired me to take mine.. i am gonna cram tonght and go take the test tomrw !!!

I did the Michigan test. I had to answer 50 multiple choice questions & a lot of them were common sense stuff. There were a lot of questions on distances too.

The road test consisted of 3 maneouvres on a car park, an emergency stop, parallel parling & reverse parking. Then I had to drive on the road for 30mins including the freeway.

Good Luck

In Cal, I did the written test (no computers here in Walnut Creek), I think I had to get 25 out of 30.

Then the driving test was a show the examiner where certain controls were, show that the indicators and brake lights were working, and then a ten minute drive. Job done.

For me in LA, written test was 36 questions no more than 6 wrong for first times and 3 for people with a previous dl.
