Indeed, it was X Factor. And yes, I miss our sorry little thread too!! Sad, yet strangely fond memories of sitting in all alone in my cosy little house in Birmingham on a Saturday night, watching X Factor and jabbering about it with you lot on here!!

Nich, what exactly is a, "slingbox" and how does it work?

OH yeah--X Factor is what I meant. I just can't down a bottle of tequila for breakfast like I used to, and still make sense.:rofl:

Nich, what exactly is a, "slingbox" and how does it work?

Slingbox looks like a gray brick with a power cord with some input places. Nich would have to explain, but basically it plugs into somebody's UK gubbins for TV reception and the US person tunes in via their computer, so you watch UK TV live, full screen on your monitor. (Now that Mr. Wizard is here, he tunes in via the laptop connected to my big TV so it's TV full screen.) You have a little on-screen remote where you can change the channels or whatever. Nick had his wired up to the TV and the DVD player/recorder thing. If he recorded a show, then I could tune in the recorder and watch it...control the DVD player from the US without it actually playing in his house while he was sleeping, if that makes sense. Nothing has to be on in the home with the Slingbox. Obviously it has to have some connection to the broadband internet router. There are various models and he got the cheap basic one when it was on clearance at Argos I think. Not sure they offer the cheapo model anymore. When he left for the US, he hooked it up at his friends house. It doesn't screw around or interfere with their broadband or TV watching. Every now and then it won't connect and we have to call him and ask him to reboot it by unplugging and re-connecting. The friend just has some kind of aerial reception, so it's not nearly as good as when it was connected at Nick's house.

I miss it

Daymo my mate had it and you set it up on the computer and it works your cable remotely so you can watch it on your puter, she thought that something weird was going on as she was at home watching sky and the chanel kept changing and it was her hubby doing it from Dubai

I dont even have TV here just watch DVD's waiting for u verse to come to the area, but if it does not come here by the start of the new season Greys anatomy I might have to get him indoors to rethink the situation

I am so f'n bored but at least next week got lots of gigs on and hob nobbing with the stars and I got a packet of hob nobs for $1.99 at world market and they have the catering size of baked beans for the amazing price of $5.99

Hi Guys

I'm late joining this thread & me & my new hubby are stressing over the I-864 as he is self employed.

For the current individual annual income, does he put what he earned as stated on the 2008 tax return? Or does he need to put what he's earned so far in 2009?

Does he need to show any proof of what he's earned in 2009? or can he just send the last 3 years tax returns with W2's & 1099's.

Thanks peeps. :star:

:D Hey guys -- got my biometrics scheduled for the 9th September, eeee!

Also, Shaz, I've had to do some hobnobbing (or shmoozing as my hubby's family puts it, I love it) with people so we can get more business for the inn, but it's nowhere near the kind of interesting hobnobbing you'll be doing. We had a d00d from the UN over last weekend, one of the peacekeepers...that was pretty interesting. I've had to do some shmoozing when I was at an intern at Ferrari too, at one of their events, but that was perverted older men and I didn't have a choice :(.

The intent is what he is currently earning or expects to earn for a whole year based on his current rate, not 2008's. With a regular salary, that's easy to do the math. I think he could look at an average of what he's earned as self-employed year to date and come up with an average and extend it to a yearly income. That's what he can put on the form. They will look at tax returns to see if that looks like a reasonable number and see that he has maintained a regular income. A self employed person will not have W2s. Those come from an employer who pays a person wages. He can include some evidence of earnings to date if he has contracts or records of payments. The bottom line is to convince the person looking at your evidence that he can sufficiently support an immigrant. He can spell it out with tax returns, a letter explaining the business and his projected income for the year, evidence from the records he keeps of money received, current projects he's working on that he will receive payment for. Just choose the best way you can show the income is enough. There are no specific rules of how or how not to show income. Just figure out how to paint a clear picture of his self-employment income so there will be no doubt in the adjudicators mind that it is sufficient.

I'm going to be filing AOS sometime this coming week! can't wait to join this thread "officially"

I am late to this party too as I just realized there was a special thread for UK AOS filers, but John and I got his paperwork off on 8/17 and we got our NOAs on 8/28. Now we're just crossing our fingers and hoping that we get transferred to the CSC and don't have to go through another interview. (I literally made myself sick over the one at the embassy!)
