So you only get an NOA? Or did you get a confirmation from the USCIS that they got it (and they're not hiding it)? I'm just a bit confused about whether the the USCIS (not the US postal people) send you a letter of confirmation to say they've got it or not .

Thankums!

Magpie.

Magpie--the NOA1 is the confirmation from USCIS that they got it. Under all the numbers, names, and dates it says:

The above application has been received. yada yada yada.......

And Stinky Monkey, I was waiting for you to say the date on your NOA. I'm going to use the 10th on the timeline, which is the notice date.

Does it have a date on the AP. I will put the 14th on the timeline unless you give me a date from the AP paper. They are normally the same approval date (EAD and AP).

I have a question of you guys that use the UK AOS timeline. On the heading row, I see the text of the column titles wrapped something like this:

# days

NOA -

Biom

I got a PM asking if I could wrap the text because she saw:

#day...

The text is wrapped and I wasn't aware that it would look different to other people. So if you've looked at it, do you see the whole column header or is it lopped off?

Wrapped text? Unwrapped text?

I'm having a mini-freak out.

We recently received our medical forms from Dr. Arnold. Do they have to be in my new married name? Because we haven't married yet and wanted to get everything done beforehand so that we only have to add a marriage certificate and send off the AOS in time for the 90 days... so the forms we got from Dr. Arnold are in my maiden name. Do we have to get them done again in my married name? Everything looks OK with them (it says I can apply for a blanket waiver because of only doing the first shot of the HPV series, I assume).

Congrats on the NOAs.. it must feel good knowing that you've done the paperwork and can now relax and wait for the officials to take over.

Posted (edited)

I don't see why it would matter if in your maiden name. Your passport, birth certificate, visa, etc are also in your maiden name, as well as your medical report from London. The marriage certif will show the name change. You will put the maiden name under "other names used" and fill out all the forms in the name you want to go by which sounds like you are going to use your married name.

I know we are not even close to filing AOS forms yet, but just for future reference, does my fiance need a SS# before getting Dr. Arnold to transcribe the medical info on the I-693?

Where I live, an SS# is not required for getting a marriage license or a marriage certificate. So our number one priority would be to get married and get the I-693, because getting the certified marriage certificate and medical transcripts will take a couple of days to receive so we want to get those processes started immediately once he gets here so that we will be ready to file for AOS as soon as possible. So I just wanted to confirm whether Dr. Arnold requires an SS# for the I-693 transcription.

P.S. Congrats to everyone who has received their EAD/AP/Green cards! Even though I don't post in this thread, I read it everyday :)

Visa Journey completed, but we are still here to provide support! :)

I don't think ssn is a nessersary requirement for aos or I-693, but someone please correct mr if I am wrong. If you have one already you can write it down. If not you don't write it down. I could be wrong but the security guard for my biometrics was even fussed that I couldn't remember what mine was and he said it wasn't nessersary for this process. I can't imagine a dr being more snooty about it?

Hey Marm :star: I'm still checking on you in the UK forum every day too.

He doesn't need a SSN, even to file AOS. If he doesn't have one yet, then put NONE in any blank asking for it. That's how Nick's AOS forms went out because we filed around the 9th day he was in the US.

Do you have a copy of his DS3025 immunization record? I was wondering if it had everything a male his age needs for AOS. I don't remember if he got shots before or at his medical or not. Most men only need to get MMR and Tdap or Td to qualify for AOS and those are easy to get in the UK. Oh and a history of chickenpox in lieu of the varicella shot. If he took care of that already, then he wouldn't have to do the I-693. It's normally the girls who wait and get HPV after arriving in the US that need new shots recorded by a Civil Surgeon.

Also you might ask your county marriage license place if you can "walk" your signed license back in to their office after the ceremony and get it processed while you wait. We did that. We married on a Sunday afternoon, then Monday morning took the signed license in. It took about 10 minutes for them to record the marriage in the county records and give us an extra "certified" copy of the marriage certificate (for a fee), as well as the official one. Magpie did the same thing. They married on Saturday. On Monday they took in their license, got what they needed, then headed off to the airport to fly back to Alaska with documents in hand.
