Hi All! I couldn't avoid this AOS stuff any longer now that Dave has gone back to work. We were good and did the admin stuff whilst being on honeymoon (applied for SSN, put on bank account, Phone, lease agreement etc)

I called Dr A yesterday and was told what to supply by the receptionist.

Everything but:

Who do I address the check too! How did everyone else address the check?

Thanks

:P I think there's something wrong with me. I've been using red, white and blue paperclips for everything, and my coversheets for the various documents have red, white and blue strips below the title...

As for Social Security, it's best to go in. You shouldn't really have any trouble if you go in there -- but you do need to give them a reason for it. Because an SSN is required to get married in Alaska, it might be the reason they let me have one so easily. Pester them -- it really depends on where you are and the volume of people who are there. My new one came pretty quickly after I went into the office to explain about the fact that I'm now married and need a new one with my name on it. You need one for a driver's license too up here, and they'll check your name on the SSN

In terms of the parole document, I just used the justification letter which I think you'll be able to find under example forms. Miss G, you can mention your dad in the letter if you like :( I'm sorry that he's not doing so good at the moment, and I hope he recovers.

Magpie.

ok i dont understand do we have to have another medical??

im doing this volunteer program and had to have a tb test i think they ask u to get one done for the AOS.

also are you applying for your first ever drivers licence or do you already have a UK one?

yay got confirmation that my aos was received on the 5th so guess I am an August filer then

Just not stressed about this like I was for the visa application and what with the help of turret dweller and nick nick should not be a problem

Just cant wait for the advance parole want to go see my mum as she is 85 so hope to have that within the 90 days

Make the cheque payable to 'the department Of homeland Security' :)

We sent ours off today *fingers crossed* all will be well, let the waiting game commence (again)..lol

Miss g, as far as i know we don't need another medical, just need to have any vaccinations checked onto another form if you didn't have them all at KnightsBridge. I didn't bother, i sent copies of all my vaccinations as i'd had them all in the UK, if they call me in for a medical, i'll cross that bridge when we get to it!

Good luck to everyone, and congratz to all the newlyweds ;)

Selina.

well my hobgoblin ale and steak pie with chips went a bit wrong... well the most part it was lush but the puff pastry went ohhh so wrong  , we had to open our two new joint bank accounts with my maiden name because the marriage certificate and post to this address in my married name wasn't good enough and i have to go back with state id to change it :crying: ...it was the same pleb at the credit union who on the phone said we only needed my ssn with address and passport and then turned us around because he wanted to see our marriage certificate which would prove proof of address and name change. yup that's right second attempt with what he asked for and still not good enough. they wouldn't let me have a visa card with one opf those small limits where you put money down in advance because they are not helping people establish credit in this economy anymore cos they are too small an institution.

and still no update aos or my other problem so I don't feel like i am progressing much on getting things done right today. getting things done yes but right no

oh what a day... oh well i got a used ball from the dodgers game we went to last night so that was fun, never been to a baseball game before.

hope other people are having a good night.

Hannah, so sorry you feel the things are not going according to your plans but at least you are together and you have the SSN card. ;-) Things could be worse. Everything here is on my maiden name as I can't get the SS card until I get EAD so he ordered a second card in my name for just about everything. It will be a major hassle getting everything changed again. Even the medical insurance card is in my maiden name as are all my records at various doctors :-). Frustrating as hell but very little I can do about it now. Similar boats... (how far off shore are we though?). ;-)

Hope your day gets better. (F) Have you considered enrolling in kickboxing class? :P

oh that's good that you got your noa1. Now you have the number so you can check religiously about your status like the rest of us! :)

nah don't think i will be better anytime soon seen as it been going on since may when I got my vaccinations and we haven't managed to fix it yet. :( wish we could it's gone on for way too long. Hopefully we will work out what's causing it eventually. But thanks for the wishes. :)

Hewwo guys!

Sorry to hear that you're running into snags, Hannah, but like other snags, you'll conquer them -- but conquering might be too good or dramatic for a snag, so you might just de-snag the snag...

Also, congrats on NOA1, Kat&Allie!

Filed my AOS paperwork, so looks like I might be an August filer too (if they get back to me within the month). Miss G, I only had to go for a medical because I hadn't had my HPV vaccination done, so I had to take my paperwork, get the shot, and had a civil surgeon fill it out. I didn't have to deal with a cheque for the medical because they let me pay there right after it was done.

They better notice the paperclips for my documents! I lost count of how many coversheets I used.

Magpie.
