Thanks everyone!

My husband's going to get his permit this week, then off to take his license test sometime in August. He's really stressing about it, but looking forward to putting his car in his name and maybe buying a new one.

Congrats to everyone who's made progress in their journey since I last posted!

I phoned yesterday and got a service request for my AWOL biometrics notice as it's beyond the 30 days since noa1 date. Was very suprised I not only got a nice and polite lady buy she helped me to the best of her ability in an efficient mannor which is a first for us to experience from the misinformation line. So hopefulyby the 19 th august she promised me the service request should be sorted, I.e. Biometrics notice sent.

So that's two service requests they are working on for us now! Still waiting on the first but she couldn't speak about it without hubby being present as he was petitioner, though it's been two months now as they said and no news :(

Hope things start kicking into gear for you guys Hannah + Vito!

Haven't been on here in a little bit.... just a few updates.

Stuart went and got his IL Drivers License on 7-18-09 and started a job as an electrician on Monday. :)

Sucks because we only have one car and he starts work at 7am so we both have to be up at 6am so he can drop me off

at my parents house (me and my mom work together so she gives me a ride) and then he goes off to work and i go back

to bed for a hour. It doesn't bother me knowing that we now have two incomes though and his job has work for the next year

:star:

hope everyone is doing well

my greencard finally arrived on july 18th!

i tried to go to the social security office today with my greencard to get that offensive "VALID FOR WORK ONLY WITH DHS AUTHORIZATION" line removed from my card and it didn't go very well...

when they tried to verify me with dhs, apparently she could only see my maiden name and could not proceed as the names didn't match. she said that they sent an electronic request and i should hear a response in four weeks!

has anyone else tried to do this?

i did too, but when the woman tried to verify me on the computer she could only see my maiden name and she couldn't work it out. she said they had to manually verify me and it would take four weeks... i'm wondering how i went there the first time with only evidence of my maiden name and our marriage certificate and was able to get a ss card in my married name with no problems... i think she was just thick.

Congratuations Nicoxcx and rocks on your approvals. That's the big thing. You can live with the DHS thing on your SS card a little longer. It's just cosmetic and doesn't change your status. You don't even have to show your card to an employer, just give them the number. Your GC is your ticket to work now.

And on another happy congratulatory note---Today is Stinky Monkey's wedding day. Yay Shaz!!! Rock on!

:D Yay Shaz, congraaaats and lots of luff!

I found my Bean -- managed to get more paperwork done, and got my ID so I sorted out bank stuff too. Still have to arrange an appointment with the civil surgeon for my HPV shot and possibly Hep B (just to get that out of the way). Social Security haven't updated things to say that I'm married (but the ID people were nice and cleared it for me anyhow), so I need to chase them up about that.

Been mad busy -- haven't been checking on here much because of things to do, but we're getting there!

only wish that it was a little bit sooner than august 19th!!! does anyone know if w. pico in los angeles does walk ins?

And do you know if they can't or can continue processing and approving the ap and ead prior to biometrics being complete? or will this put my ead and ap applications on hold till its done?

Hi, all.

Just a quick update: still waiting for the GC, but have been accepted into a degree course at my local college (and managed to get into all my classes, thanks to a very considerate soul that dropped out of one at the last minute yesterday) and have FINALLY been called back and asked to an interview at one of the places I applied for work at.

Perhaps things are looking up. :star:

congrats on the green cards and congrats on the job and school Damien

I got the letter about the service request for missing biometrics yesterday,

and yet again the dates of things they send me are all squiffy, like the k1 i hope this isn't a bad omen

to be specific noa1 dates for all three applications was the 18th of June so phoned and got a service request on the 20th July because it had been over 30 days and still no biometrics. well they finally set one for me and generated the notice of the 22nd July and i got it in the post on the 25th July, I was ecstatic, not so much about the appointment date of 18th august but just just because i now have an appointment notice.

Well yesterday I got a new letter form them  opened it up and its the service request letter generated on the 24th, conveniently just after they set my appointment. So it reals of how their records show they have already sent me an appointment notice, :bonk: they have provided a copy of the notice, so i have two now with the exact same info and dates on it, and if its already gone past, how to go about requesting a new one. Also that my case is on hold till biometrics is complete. :help: is that why you want me to wait another month for my biometrics appointment?

So i guess i can kiss good bye to the possibility of getting my ead card approved in the beginning of august like my time line suggests. :pooh:

Is it me or are the majority of the people working there complete off whack. they are prob laughing their Hines off right now. Do they seriously believe i i will think that they set my appointment of their own accord, after i phoned, mmmm  if it was not for the fact that they affect our lives in such serious ways (being with the ones we love, working, etc) i would find all the things we go through comical

Well folks we're in this thread now. Took a few weeks off from VJ while we got Pat settled in, but now we're back with a vengeance to get this part over and done with.

I couldn't get any holiday time off when she arrived so it was kind of odd to get her moved in on Saturday then I had to go to work on Monday morning... so i guess this real life.

We get married on August 6th, sailboat wedding in Florida and then a honeymoon in south FL and the keys. Can't wait!

Started gathering forms and learning the newest set of 3 letter abbreviations. Thanks to skparker for the lengthy email and explanation of what to expect. We owe you a drink in town one night guys.. thanks!

Good to see Bob back in the fold of VJers. There's a post on p. 6 of this thread about halfway down with an outline of the documents for AOS. There's a spreadsheet on google docs of timelines to get an idea of how those are going for this small subset of VJers. It's not password protected to look at. If you get a request for a log in, then it's probably because you have a google account for yourself already. Not sure why it does that. http://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=p4x...HVG6dVoxmTGAKEg

Damian--glad you got an interview. So what if you get the job? Work or go to school?

Hannah, just walk in for your biometrics. Everybody seems to do it successfully. Don't wait. You'll get your EAD faster hopefully.

As for us, we are going to close on a new house this week. Finally! It's been off and on all summer. We are starting to de-clutter and get organized so we can put our current house on the market. We're moving 75 miles up the road, but are going to go about it somewhat leisurely. We want to get everything spruced up in the new place, before hiring movers to take the whole lot up. Guess we will live in two places for awhile. Nick has some projects he wants to do with wiring before we move in. I've got a lifetime of stuff to go through and weed out and pack in boxes. Mind boggling task.
