You don't need a SSN to file AOS.

Ok, cool, thats such a relief. We're going to file as soon as we get the I-693's back from Dr Arnold next week (hopefully!).

I just have one more question; is it ok to submit copies of the letter from employer, bank etc that we used for the K-1 process a few months ago? They are still relevant as they refer to his income this tax year, and maybe just submit copies of up-to-date payslips as he is still with the same employer?

did anyone get a lawyer for the aos or did you do it alone.

We did it alone as well.

Good luck :)

I just submitted the 2008 tax return and a copy of the same employer letter as before with the I-134 and that seemed to work.

I didn't use a lawyer the process seemed very straightforward after having gone through the K1 already.

My husband's green card was approved today.. I also want to add that we didn't get a new medical even tho his was expired (AOS sent 3-18, Expired 4-28). and we also didn't do the I-693. So it was very much worth the risk and it didn't slow us down at all. got through the whole process with no RFEs :)

Congratulations, Kelly!

I also had the same experience. I didn't even complete the HPV vaccine course - I just had the first one. I decided to take the risk of getting an RFE and was pleased that it posed no problem!

No lawyer for us. There's a list of things to submit on p. 6 of this thread that might be helpful to K1s. Use the VJ guides for more detailed help. And read all the instructions that come with the actual forms.

Congratulations Kelly. We also sent just the DS3025 because all the shots needed were recorded on it.

We aren't surprised they let it slide with the DS3025, just shocked they let the expired medical slide. I see loads getting RFEs just because they lost their medicals, so no RFE for an expired one seems weird. but well worth the risk.

We also did the whole process alone and came out successful with no RFEs.

Grats Kelly =D.

Haven't been around much -- we had quite a large moving operation, but it's pretty much done now.

Hokaaayy. We've been told by the bank that I can get myself a handy ID card with my changed name on it (driving license). Hopefully it'll be a doddle since I'm one of many who have undergone the more recent and gruelling driving test (it having been changed in the last five years, ish) that the DVLA puts you through. Going to see about getting the medical done, among other things...

It should be a real doddle for you. I eventually got round to taking mine on Thursday and passed :) One of the things I will say about the written part is there were questions on the amount of fines and prison sentences and state laws on insurance levels as well as the actual driving questions. Obviously this may vary from state to state but Texas want you to know the every bit of the nitty gritty. The driven test was much simpler and shorter than the one I did many years ago - no 3 point turns, no reversing round corners, no emergency stops - just parallel parking.

Woohoo! Hopefully I won't make a fool of myself, then. But considering how people drive...it's a wonder that anybody makes it home in one piece. Going to try and get as much AOS paperwork done today, and will try and book the thing with the civil surgeon. Oh, the madness! Doesn't help that Bean's disappeared into the wilderness and he's chasing shrews...
