On another post I have been told that I do not need to apply for any visa (CR1 or K3) as my husband is here in USA?

That all in need to apply is I-130 and I485 is that correct?

Do I need to do anything else?

It feels too easy?

Thanks for any help

Hello Song41 :)

We went through the process that you are just beginning and wanted to let you know, its not easy. There are many stresses that you will go through, as does everyone who does the immigration process. Other posters have already mentioned the forms you need to fill out, but feel free to contact us, if you have any extra questions.

Our biggest advice is check and double check, even triple check everything you do. Make sure you have all of your forms neatly organized when you send them in. You have a lot of paperwork ahead of you to fill out and you need to get all of this done, sooner rather than later, especially filing the way you are choosing to do. Do not allow your husband to fall out of status and let his I-94 expire before filing. You really should have all of your paperwork in, before that date.

Good Luck!! We wish you all the best.

Hi

Can anybody help?

I am filing I-485 does my husband have to have the medical BEFORE I file? Or can he have it later and we send it in? Or will that cause a delay?

Thanks

The more complete your whole application is, the better off you'll be for a stress free process. Yes, do a complete medical before. Call around and check prices because Civil Surgeons vary so much in what they charge. You can get the immunizations anywhere and provide proof to the CS for him to record (like a get a record of childhood things from the UK or go to a health dept clinic here.) I made a post on page 6 of this thread that outlines the AOS/EAD/AP supporting things that goes with those that might be worth a look over. It is geared toward K1s so ignore the parts about your NOA2 and immunizations, but pay attention to the income tax, photos for each, etc. Many things will be the same for you.

Thanks I guess the hold up will be getting the vaccine info from UK?

Any suggestions how I obtain that info especially as I am now landlocked here in USA?

Could my parents get it? Can I phone or fax for it etc/

Suggestions welcome.

Finally what is an acceptable price for the medical?

Thanks

If you parents have the little immunization book from your childhood or can go to your NHS service that might have your records. The NHS service nurse wrote out a list from my husbands records on file with his immunizations and dates. It should have a letterhead of sorts or something identifying the practice and be signed. If you had chickenpox get your mum to give you a date or have the NHS write it on your form. You might have to call them or write your permission for them to release files to your parents. Most UK men just get MMR and Td or Tdap to satisfy the requirements. You will also get a TB skin test as part of your medical so you might want to check prices/and places that give that. The CS may offer it or may refer you to a clinic.

Here's the official list. Pay attention to the ages. Most will not be appropriate for you.

I think people pay $200 or so....don't remember all the quotes I've seen. Some say much higher, so just compare and go with a cheaper one.

Looks like I'm going back to college. It's the only way I can mentally deal with doing a menial, crappy job. Telling myself I'm only doing it because I'm studying full time.

I don't have any helpful info on how to get your vaccine info, Paul already had his before he ever came here.

We paid $145.00 for the Civil Surgeon appt.

Though it is best to send in all paperwork right away, we did our medical after we recived our RFE for intial evidence. We sent it in within a week and things progressed from there. Not saying our way will work for everyone, but it did for us. Due to time constraints, we sent it in to make sure he didn't fall out of status. Hope that makes sense.

So what are you going to study and won't the cost of tuition and books eat up the menial crappy job pay? And is the college study a guaranteed non-crappy job at the end? Economy sucks right now and it's hard to find jobs.

Tell us more about what you're going to be when you grow up Daymo. Nick has no job after 6 months with work authorization, but since we may be moving, it's on the back burner until we know where we'll live....here or 75 miles north.

I feel your pain with the cheap beer!

I'm going to school in August and I can't wait.

I'm about fed up with the no job thing, but school was always the first choice for us. I just wanted part time work until I started.

Now I'm just gonna sit back and wait for school.

On the plus side, I will get paid for going to school through my hubby's work.

Good luck Damian P. Keep ya chin up. They do say there's always light at the end of the tunnel......although I'm thinking it could be a train!

Good old Mum she never kept it when they moved last year!! Figured it was all on the medical records so she did not need her rumpled copy!!

We will try calling the old UK Dr.

See if he can either extract the info I need or what long winded procedure is bound to be required to get it!

I have a list of surgeons so now just need to find one in VA that is reasonable! Anybody know any?

Thanks

That will work then I will get all the paperwork in and follow up with the medical as soon as I gather the info!

I can manage $145 so hope we have a surgeon in this area with that pricing!

Was the RFE just for the medical info? Or something else?

I've been reading how difficult it is for our spouses from across the pond to find work and it certainly adds to the stress level. Paul has been helping me with my cleaning business, 7 nights a week. He's in the process of starting to find work on his own, away from my company, but I almost wonder if its better if he stays helping me and I add him as a co-owner of my business. We are going to talk to the IRS about this.

Out of curiousity, since I am the sponsor and I'm the one that has to show I can support him for 10 years, do I have to keep my job even if he is fully capable of supporting us at some point?

Also, he heard that his "qualifications from England" don't count for squat over here. Is this true or have any of you dealt with this?
