UK AOS 2009 Thread

i think i am driving myself crazy, i keep flipping over the silliest things and over think them.

can i just ask the uk girls when you did your cover letter, did you refer to yourselves in new married name or maiden name as is on visa?

so far i have been refering myself as new married name and and in brackets (formally ......maiden name) then a# and also putting the wac # in there too. do you think that will confuse them?

secondly how many checks for how much are we suposed to send? i know $1010 does for i-485 and ead and travel doc but does it cover biometrics or is that a separate check?

On all AOS paperwork i used my married name.

one check for $1010, includes the biometrics.

You might want to find my post on page 6 of this thread (scroll down a bit from the top )It shows the basics of my cover letter and some help in organizing what to send. The cover letter is total fluff and extra, so don't waste time worrying about it.

To help you get your head around AOS. You have a new name. Apply in that. Sign your letters with that. EAD is a new process so your old visa case number and name is out the door, except where is asks for former names used. New name, new marital status, new stuff, new address, new affidavit of support, new people looking at you like you're brand new and not really looking at your old file, except maybe to find a medical report and you will get new case numbers. The A# stays the same.

Took eleven days for them to take our cash, hopefully they aren't slowing down for summertime.

I didn't send a cover letter this time (I did for K1) I used a checklist though to make sure I had everything.

yea nothing has moved out of our account. i've found other people that sent their aos's on the 20th like i did and they already have the bio apt for next week. how aggrevating. i know i had everything included and seriously checked all the papers 5-6x. i dont know why ours hasnt gone through yet when others who sent it the same day have gone through already and then some.

Thanks nick nik I only worry though because we have to explain why we cannot send in the noa2 but are sending in the nvc letter noa1 and service request letter for non delivery of noa2. I was worried that if I didn't state they are under maiden name they might think it's someone elses seen as I cannot give offical I'd with new name except marriage certificate. I have nothing in new name with photo. and the misinformation line has already refussed to accept we were telling the truth that we had been approved. That's why it took so long to get a service request sent.

am i right in interpreting that if we want to send the package and be able to track it we send it to the address in colour or can we send signed for to the top address as well?

you can send it via USPS and ask for i believe its called delivery confirmation...they give you a tracking number to put in on their website and it will tell when it arrived and who signed for it.

No, should be able to send it to the PO Box, the other one is for FedEx/UPS/DHL etc.

Normal USPS goes to the PO box!

Send it to the Chicago Lock box (the first address) using USPS signature confirmation delivery. You can track it online, and it gives you the name of the individual that signed for it - real easy.
