Greetings and felicitations fellow UK VJ peoples.!

We've been lurking in the weeds here watching the goings on. Congrats on babies, jobs, driving licenses and everything else good that's been happening in life.

Nothing major to report here. Pat's kids came to visit in August and we had a vow renewal ceremony since her daughter-in-law was pregnant when we got married last summer.

We're here in England now for the holidays. Manchester looks quite lovely with a few inches of snow. We're staying with friends as they are the only ones with a spare room.

Merry Christmas, whatever the greeting for Boxing Day is, and Happy New Year!

Bob

Your wallet or billfold go inside your purse, silly girl! :P

LOL thanks Nic. Pat keeps insisting that you put your money in a purse and your purse goes inside your handbag.

Hi everybody. It's the holiday gathering around here I see. Nice to get updates from time to time. Now what is Damian up to??

I am on my typically late schedule as far as being ready for Christmas, but not in panic mode. We're having 8 people on Christmas Eve for dinner. Now that we're all grown ups with no kids to lavish with fun and toys, we added games a couple of years ago that has turned out to be fun. Pass the Parcel is one. You start with a wrapped generic gift, then put it in a bigger wrapped box, then in bigger, bigger, bigger wrapped boxes. The person whose turn it is has to wear big oven mitts to unwrap. To decide who gets a crack at it, you take turns around the circle throwing dice. The first person who throws a 7 starts while the dice keep passing around the circle.. Then they get to work on unwrapping until somebody else throws a 7. That could come within a few seconds or minutes later. People get crazy using their feet, teeth, etc trying to unwrap. My son-in-law's grandmother was practically standing on her head and was pretty hilarious--a very competitve granny. We've started adding extra little prizes in some of the layers for intermediate rewards as well as LOTS of tape.

Nick is working on this year's version of the Logo game we made up. He get's common logo jpgs and alters them slightly . Then they are a PowerPoint slide show he shows on the TV with the laptop. The alterations might be cutting off the words or half the logo---think Nissan symbol without the word Nissan across the middle or just the tip of a McDonald's arch. People answer on an answer sheet. My daughter said she might work on a few "Minute to Win It" type challenges too.

All I have left to do is wrap a few more presents, buy a few groceries, and go to the liquor store for dark rum and brandy. Going to make some homemade eggnog this year. Do British people know what that is? Speaking of British, we were in World Market last night. I only needed to dash in and buy a Nutcracker and knew just where they were and which one I wanted. But my British husband became totally intrigued with the store and we were there forever. He came away with Speckled Hen beer, PG Tipps de-caff tea, Mr. Kipling's mince pies, and a "stocking" filled with Basset Allsorts, Maltteasers, CurlyWurly, wine gums, and a big bar of Cadbury's milk chococlate. He was chuffed, as you say, to discover we have World Market so close to our new house.. Our weather is summer-like right now so it makes running around last-minute pretty easy with no snow or coats to deal with.

Oh, and our removing conditions package (53 pages) is ready to go to the postoffice, but can't be mailed before Dec. 24. They reject them if sent earlier than 90 days before the 2-year greencard expires.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!

They have Walkers and Mr. Kiplings. I think their ad said all Walkers products are currently 20% or 25% off...mince pies, shortbread, holiday tins, etc. They also had Christmas crackers last week, but I found a stash we apparently bought after Christmas last year so we're good for a couple of years.

Did I just read Walkers are available at World Market?! I feel a craving coming on...

Well, I had to fight the awful last minute shoppers and the horrible traffic, but I got the mince pies, and it was worth it to see him enjoying them so. Thanks again for the tip off!

I saw the Christmas crackers, but geez! $15 for a pack!

My mother spent a good portion of this afternoon/evening making crackers. Haha, here I was insisting paper hats be included, and Nik's like...But they make your head itchy!I'd never worn a paper hat on Christmas until 2008. :D

I may have gone a little overboard getting him stuff. Even now I'm thinking of at least 5 other things I'd have liked to get for him, but he's already mentioned that he thinks he'll be embarrassed by how many things he'll have to open...We are going to have 9 people here the morning of - just think 9 people getting the other 8 something + extras for spouses/kids is a loooot of presents and we have a long morning of it. Heh.

My other disappointment is that we didn't get to see the Luminaria at the desert botanical garden last night as it was cancelled due to rain - it was a really cool storm. I had wanted to go to get back into the Christmas spirit after the burgling (see b!tches post). My aunt and I had a discussion about how Christmas-y things just don't seem to feel as nice after about...noon on the 25th. We will go next week anyway, though, because we haven't been to see them since one of our first dates in 2007 - it was the inspiration for our wedding, for crying out loud!

Hi again! I just wanted to say that we had a really, really nice Christmas. It was our first where everybody came to do Christmas at our new house. I loved it. Now it really feels like "home".

Yesterday afternoon we went to St. Arnold's Brewery for the tasting/tour with the kids. It's a micro-brewery I guess you'd call it. We just sat in the beer hall and "tasted." Each person gets four large glasses of beer. Whew! A lot for me. A nice guy randomly sat by us and he was visiting from Swansee in Wales.

And the real reson I'm posting is I want you to notice my status and signature because we have officially filed for Removal of Conditions. Oh, must add that to the VJ timeline too. Yay us!

Yay you indeed!

Thinking it's odd we're posting in a 2009 thread when we're on the cusp of 2011... oh well it's a place to meet and keep tabs on each other. So I'll be the 1st to say Happy New Year everyone!

Happy New Year Everyone!

I just wanted to ask a quick question regarding Removal of Conditions.

Can anyone tell me if the letters of affidavits from friends and family have to be notarized?

I looked on USCIS but it did not help me.

Also do they have to be all official looking or can it simply be in letter format?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
