Thank you both, I have more good news too. I now have THREE job offers.

One is Research Assistant at the prison/hospital which I told you about, one is Mental Health Specialist at a psych hospital, and one is admin work at my husband's office.

If I pass my driving test next week, I'm going to go with the first one as it has the full benefits package, only two mins away from my husband so no need to buy a second car, plus it's in my field. As a fall-back option, I'll see if I can work part-time at both other jobs. Either way, I'll be working in a matter of weeks, fingers crossed.

I hope everyone is doing well!

Could this be the same gal that was ready to throw in the towel a few weeks back? Surely not!!!:thumbs:;)

How is everybody doing? I'm so glad Gemmie didn't pack it up and leave. She tried so hard to remain positive and hopeful and things are finally looking up for her. I saw in another thread that she failed her driving test and my heart sank, but she went back and passed. Now I guess she is a working girl.

Nothing new here but a baby kitten.

I am really missing our foster kittens these days. They are sooo cute! :) But we have just been busy. Dad is going to move (hopefully today, maybe this weekend or Monday) to the rehab facility where they will really start to focus on building his strength. He's extremely deconditioned from being in bed for 8 weeks. Since he seems to be doing well, Mother is going to go on her Vietnam tour trip with some lady friends of hers which was planned before this whole thing came up. She deserves a break, she's been doing quite a lot of the hospital sitting, so I'll be taking some more vacation time to do that while she's gone. I have to admit that I'm sort of getting my hopes up that he'll be home for Christmas. I'm trying really hard not to set expectations, but it's difficult.

Heather-- It's good to hear your Dad is improving. I read about that and it reminded me of my brother. He had a surgeon totally screw up colon surgery and operate on the wrong area because the doctor finding a mass wrote up the notes wrong. So the mass wasn't removed and obstructed and from there all kinds of medical problems started unrelated to the original problem but caused by the mistakes. He was in intensive care for 8 weeks with a trach and barely hanging on. But he slowly improved and was moved to a care facility for at least another month, then home with visits by physical and occupational therapists 3 times a week. He lost so much weight and strength, but is getting about much better. It's a long climb back. That started 8 months ago. Like your mother, my sister-in-law was exhausted. I wish him all the best and I'll bet he's home for Christmas.

Nich, last week was incredibly stressful with the failed driving test. We were so glad that I was able to pass three days later, a different instructor can make all the difference. I will be a working girl from Tuesday. I am a bit concerned as the official letter turned up today and it gives me a department and hours that are completely wrong - hoping they just made a mistake in the letter and haven't accepted me for a different project! I took the car out by myself today for the first time, and tomorrow we're going to drive around the hospital I'll be working at so I can get a feel of the roads. It's all happening so quickly now, finally got a cell phone, the driving, the job, perhaps an apartment if we can get the one that's available. I am really pleased I didn't go back, but honestly I think I was just feeling so lost that I didn't know what to do anymore. Thank goodness for the turn of luck. :) I'm jealous of the new kitten, so cute!

I'm glad your dad is doing better, Heather. And also that your mum is able to take some time away to recuperate. I keep my fingers crossed that he'll be home by Christmas, I know it's hard not to get your hopes up when the holidays bring so much attention to family. Keep us updated.

Hey everyone!

Just checking in once again until I sent for my Removal thingy's in December!

Hope everyone is doing well! I can see that a lot of you are doing great!

Since my last visit......school is still kicking my butt. I am enjoying it though!

I am loving my independence through driving. I waited a year with my permit just to be certain I got the whole 'wrong side of the road and car thing down.' It certainly makes a big difference!

I've been here for almost two and a half years now and the locals still cannot get enough of my Australian/South African/French accent??? :bonk: Maybe I should start wearing a Union Jack T-shirt combined with matching pants and handbag (purse)! What is that about? A purse is what you put the cash in before you put it into your handbag. Duh!

Once again...good luck to everyone and I hope you all (y'all) have a Happy Thanksgiving!

Hey everyone!

We're sending that in December, too. I did all the forms in the summer including signing (and dating Dec 24). I also gathered and photocopied all the evidence things. I figured I would be too busy to think it through by this time of year. Now I only need to put it together in a logical sequence and photocopy the whole thing to have a record of what we are sending. I got up this morning and told myself today would be a good day to organize the papers and finish it off and put it in the Priority mail envelope. I think it would be best to not mail it on Christmas Eve, so will probably wait a week or so after when the postal service has calmed down. You know the fees go up Nov. 23? So it will cost us a little more since we can't send until December. New fee $590, which includes biometrics fee.

Your wallet or billfold go inside your purse, silly girl! :P

Hey Nich-Nick!

You are so organized. I have only completed the form.

I'll be glad when we get to stop sending so much money out!

Can I ask what king of evidence you sent as I have no idea what we need to send with the form and you are always a great help to everyone in this forum? :D

Bill Fold?? What the heck is that? :P

Posted

Billfold? I've never heard that term, that's hilarious!

I'm enjoying my new job, it's a bit slow at the moment as they're waiting a few weeks to train me, but I can tell it's going to be really interesting. I'm being cross-trained in two therapy techniques, so I feel so lucky to get that experience, both for my resume and for general knowledge. It's good to learn interpersonal skills. I'm also loving the driving independence. Now all we need is an apartment (we're working on it) and we'll be good to go. :)

I hope everyone is doing well, and good luck with the removing conditions! Scary to think of the paperwork again, but at least you'll be done for a DECADE afterwards.

Hi

Can anyone answer a couple of UK questions.

My Husband did an AOS in the USA and has his Green Card but there is nothing in his passport? They took out the I-94 at the interview but did not stamp his passport at the time in anyway as we had to produce some extra docs.

He eventually got his Green Card and LPR.

He may now have to return to the UK for a short stay as his 81 year old GF is ill. Does he need something stamped in his passport before he leaves the USA?

If not how does he re-enter through the USA line or UK line and as a LPR does he need to do the I-94 again?

Should he have something in his UK passport from the USA embassy to show he is a LPR?

Also we married in 2009 when he can he apply to remove the conditional status?

I also posted in 2010 thread as was not sure which was best?

Thanks

All he needs to have to get readmitted to the US is his green card and a customs form. To gain entry to the UK, he needs to have his British passport (and possibly a landing card.. anyone?).

He does not need anything special in his passport for either side.

He would go through the British Citizen line at the airport because he has a UK passport. If you're accompanying him, they may allow you to go through the same line as him. Just ask someone at the airport before you waste time in a line.

When he returns to the US, he just needs to read the signs at the airport to determine the correct line.

An I-94 is not needed for LPR's, per the instructions on the form: http://amsterdam.usconsulate.gov/uploads/images/YCmGtsXw2N2-SQS8luJXMA/I-94_front.jpg

I have been so busy! Nik got sick and he really hasn't had the down time to relax and really get well, so it's hanging on, and on, and onnnnnnnnn. Then, I wrecked my dad's car which I had been driving while I needed to be going to different destinations than Nik all the time. Total loss. *sigh*

Good news is that dad came home on Saturday (if you're counting, that's 12 weeks after first admittance). I had banked my vacation, so I'm able to be home to help him and mother, so that's nice. He's making so much progress - just day to day we can see him improving and strengthening.

With all of that, work gets really busy at the end of the year, as all the dates which got pushed out but can't go into 2011, so really not had time to be on VJ.

Christmas is almost here, and then shortly after that we can say GOOOOOOD BYE! (and good riddance!!) to 2010.

Gemmie, how is the job going?

MARM, how's the baby coming along? My good friend from work is preggers now too, which is sort of fun to watch.

Good to hear he's home at last and that he's being taken care of. :)

I've been really busy too, I work over 42 hours a week and we're also preparing for our move (moving into our own place in a matter of weeks!) as well as the Christmas rush. The job is going really well, I'm meeting prisoners now which I actually LOVE. There are a few frustrations but overall I'm happy to have a job. I can't believe how much happier I am now.

I hope everyone is doing great.

Sorry about the car Heather! Hope that you guys can work something out and hope Nik feels better soon. Congrats on your dad's improvement! And yes, I am SO ready for 2010 to end and 2011 to begin. This has been a hectic and fast moving year!

Baby is coming along fine :) Very active as everyone loves to tell me. I can feel the handsprings and rolls these days  I'm due in April, which doesn't seem that far away any more...oh and I believe I mentioned it here in addition to the baby corner: it's a boy!

I am still working on my masters in speech therapy, but I am going to miss the Spring 2011 semester as none of the professors have a way to work out my April delivery into the academic year. Oh well, that's just a delay of another semester, fine with that!

Gemmie: You must feel ELATED that you are moving into your own place, how exciting! Nice to hear that you are busy too. So glad to hear that you are happy!

How is everyone else? In case I don't get a chance to post during the next week or two: Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all!
