Have fun Ellie, and there must be something about the dampness of England that brings cold, as I rarely get them here either. And when I do, they're not nearly as bad! I hope you enjoy your trip.

I have a second in-person interview at Brown Medical School, hopefully Friday. I've scheduled it for then because it's our wedding anniversary on Sunday. So if it goes well, celebrations all around! If it doesn't, I have a 3-day weekend and amazing hotel to share with my husband to make myself feel better.

I know what you mean Ellie! We were too stressed to continue trying and seeing everyone else around me with babies did not make it any easier, and then--there it was! I find out today how far along I am. Hope your cold disappears soon! I myself ended a pretty nasty cold a couple of days ago. Enjoy your vacation! Have a safe and lovely trip! :)

Gemmie: The interview sounds promising! And its great that you have such a positive attitude. Enjoy each other on the three-day weekend!

Well, what were the results? :)

Happy anniversary! I'm a little sad for ours to be coming up soon - I don't think we'll be "newlyweds" anymore. :(

The interview was moved to tomorrow. I've been nervous as heck all week, but hoping it goes well. I'm doing my research today, printing off papers, and thinking of questions, etc. I'll let you all know how it goes!

Thanks! We spent our anniversary weekend in Boston, gorgeous 4* hotel. They surprised us with a bottle of champagne and box of chocolates since there were no available upgrades. It was SO great to get away and spend time together with no inturruptions and no stress. :) But don't worry about not being newlyweds anymore, I read somewhere that it's considered newlywed in the first 2 years of marriage!

Great! I'll put it off until next year, when you can tell me that we are really "newly" wed until we hit 5 years!

Also, MARM, have I said congrats yet? I was thinking about it...anyway, if it's the second time around, double congrats!

Well I had the interview, it was quite brutal. It was 2 hours long, and with 5 separate people. I don't think I came across well with some of them because I was so nervous and stumbled/said the wrong thing, but then I did better with others. So I'm crossing my fingers that it works out. Next step, I have to send them a sample of my work and give them references. I hope they get in touch soon.

The job doesn't sound as interesting as I hoped, but at this point, I just want a paid job in the field. So please everyone send me good vibes. :)

Nik+Heather: Thanks for the congrats! :)

Gemmie: A 2 hour long interview with 5 different people is apt to get most people nervous and agitated. They should have told you how long it was going to be so you could be a little less nervous. I'm crossing my fingers here for you too, I hope it works out to be in your best interest!

Good to hear an update, Damian. Where are you working now?

Nothing new with me, if you've been seeing my news around the forums that is. Didn't get the job (again) and what with everything going on with my in-laws/home, I'm thinking of moving back to the UK (with husband some how). Just doesn't seem to be working for me over here.

Hey Daymo. Still landing on your feet I see. Fired but got a new job. You must be charming at interviews.

My news is Stinky Monkey from VJ (Shaz) is coming here tonight! Can't wait to meet her in person. She's spending the night with us, then we'll take her to the airport to meet up with a band flying in from the UK. She's doing the Texas part of their tour with them.

.

Gemmie, I am so sorry things are going like they are for you. Going to PM you.

At a hotel doing night audit - nowt fancy but it pays the bills.

I sincerely hope you don't. Things must seem pretty sh!tty for you right about now, and I can relate to you totally about the just wanting to go home thing. At the end of last year, I was alone, no job, nowhere to live, nada, and I was sooooooooo close to saying *#### this" and jumping on the first plane home. But ultimately, I refused to give in. No way had I gone through all the hassle of immigration just to quit now. And guess what, kiddo? Things are looking up!

Just hang in there, and keep telling yourself that things WILL get better, OK?

Thanks Dame-o. I'm going to try and hang in there, I guess it's a form of trying to regain control when you think about going back as that's something you're able to actually do to change your life. I'm so glad things turned around for you as well, well done on the job and picking things up again. :star:

We enjoyed Stinky Monkey's visit Thurs/Fri. She was great fun.

Today is our second anniversary. Things are great right now and I am so happy. We never got around to booking a "honeymoon" but aren't bothered. Mexican food and margaritas will do nicely for a little celebration. Cheers!

We've been so busy that October 1st came around, and I was like... "October...October...for some reason this seems like an important month....#######! anniversary is in less than two weeks!" We've been promising ourselves a new game (+ all expansions = $100) and were going to treat ourselves for our first (paper) anniversary and it has seemed so far off all summer long, that it sort of snuck up on me. It's arriving Thursday! YAY! My dad's been in the hospital (but now on the mend) for a while and my vacation which I had been guarding quite fiercely for our belated honeymoon is slipping away since I'm out of paid absence and don't want to take unpaid FMLA unless I need to. Maybe we'll follow suit and do mexican and margaritas too - I have been wanting some mexican food for a couple of days now. Good news is that I'll be moving up from 2 weeks to 3 weeks next year, so I'll have 50% more vacation to burn on a belated belated honeymoon. YAY!
