Howdy kids. Where did everybody go??? Oh, to Alaska I guess.

We're going on holiday to England for a fortnight. (Didn't I sound British??) And translated...we're going on vacation for two weeks. We haven't been since September '08. We're doing 5 days in Brighton, then the rest in Oxford. We're supposed to have wireless at the places we've rented, so post some newsy news.

Hope everybody is doing well and staying happy.

Hello Magpie, nich nick, bob and pat,

well had my interview today and i was wondering why they called us, it turns out the doc left something off our medical.. so we have to get that notated and sent off. But I am APPROVED , and should be seeing the card within three weeks. Awesome!

Oh and we were late, by about 10 mins, because we didnt find his birth cert. However the very nice lady did not even look at any of our evidence, she asked us the rudimentary questions, have i ever been a member of a club ( i was thinking "what, Sams club"??)etc. and then she asked us about how we met... which was all a precursor to your doctor didnt fill out the i-693 properly.

So with this its hopefully all done for the next 16 months...cooolio.

now to get a job...

will be training to be an occupational therapist in the next year, so i'm excited...its getting better... definately not as grumpy as I was ...

Thanks to everyone for their help.

I think driving is really helping to get rid of the surreal feeling. As soon as I get the green card, we are taking a trip to Canada. Just because I can.... its like 10 minutes away if that.

well looks like all is quiet on the 2009 front..

Well done on the interview. Hope the card gets to you soon so you can go to Canada. Ten minutes huh? I've never been there, but it's a long way from my part of the US.

We are in Oxford UK as of today and have rented a 2 BR house. Bigger than we need but we were lsst minute in trying to find a place. It's got a lovely little garden and is going to be much more comfortable than a hotel stay. The cooler weather is a very nice change. We have the use of a car to get out and about to visit all the friends and family around Oxfordshire.

ooooh, have fun in Canada! You're so lucky you live so close.

Hope you're having a great time in Oxford, Nich. I'm slightly jealous!

I had an interview today and it went really well. It was for a psychiatrist assistant, helping him with his research on religious experiences... he said he'd love me to work for him if he gets the funding he's after. And it's only 25 minutes away! :D Much more practical then the 2.5 hour commute into Boston that I'm currently doing. So I'm really happy at the moment, I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the funding goes through, as we seemed to really 'click' during the interview.

Have a great LONG weekend, everyone!

I really LOVE that new picture of you Gemmie. We had fun in Sainsburys this afternoon buying things to eat. There's so many different(new to me) products I would like to taste. I love the cheeses and the plain loaf bread makes the best toast. We also bought 960 tea bags to take home.

Magpie, reading your news about the cats reminded me of when my own little girl got spayed. She really hated that cone thing, and one day, she managed to get one of her front paws stuck inside of it- all the way to the shoulder. If you can just imagine how she looked going around on 3 legs with her other paw pointing out the front!! I'm LOLing right now, 3 years later! But boy did she glare at me - her eyes clearly said "only this stupid cone is preventing me from going for your jugular right now!!!" I found that the pain killers the vet gave me for her really made her drowsy/lethargic more than getting frustrated with the cone did.

My sister is headed to Manchester next week (to visit the Best Man! Tee hee!). I'm a bit jealous, because I only ever seem to go over Christmas, so while it's nice to spend the season with people, I never see it when it's nice! She's really looking forward to visiting some of the country houses. So far on the list are Chattsworth and Lyme Park (AKA Pemberly on A&E)

YAY!!!!

I luckily only had to make it from the mailbox to the kitchen - didn't have to wait for people to come home when Nik's important mail arrived. But I did call upstairs and tell him if he didn't come DOWN HERE RIGHT NOW someone else was going to be able to open his very conspicuously INconspicuous mail from Missouri.....

congrats. funny how you open your husbands mail too, cool.

nichnick... have fun in Oxfordshire, I had a friend who lived in Banbury, it was an old converted farmhouse, and just gorgeous. Oxfordshire is beautiful. Gemmie i'm so jealous that you had an interview, I cant get one for the life of me. yeah i know I have only been looking for a month, but it pisses me off, because in london all I have to do is email it one minute and hear back the next day. Not sure about the "kept-woman-homemaker" status I currently occupy. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARrrrrrrrrrrrgh

ok off to buy a barbie.... dont get too drunk evry1....x
