Well, unfortunately, we haven't had much luck with the online system either. Despite having an interview, it is still stuck on our Jan 12th RFE. In fact, according to the online system our petition is still under review. :D

Anyway, I feel like a whiner next to Selina. I hope that medical thing gets worked out because with ours at least it's just a money issue. We don't want to go get a full medical because we don't think we should have to, but it's still possible.

Well thats funny because ours was always stuck on initial inquiries etc, but I meant more so, the email notifications they send. It is weird, because when I logged in, the status hadn't changed, but I KNOW it had, because I got the emails saying they had updated my status AND I have my flippin' docs in my hand. Maybe you might get a nice flurry of emails late one evening and be pleasantly surprised?!

If your lady is efficent and puts the approval in the system, you'll get two or three emails. Whoever did ours at CSC failed to update. I thought we might be there forever. The people in my month group who had interviews were getting GCs 1-2 months faster than the supposed fast-track transfer that said something like "in order to speed up processing, your case has been..." If you look at that UK timeline, you'll see our total days was way longer than you guys are experiencing. Then one day there was a GC in the mail totally unannounced. He didn't even get "welcomed to America." I think it depends on whose handling your case and if they remember to do their whole job.

Well, I got online tonight to check that the new I693 had been delivered, and thought, "What the heck, I'll check USCIS again too"

Green card was ordered today! Happy St. Pattie's day! :D

We also got our census stuff in the mail today. I was sort of unsure about it (What if they ask about citizenship/status? What do I say?) but I shouldn't have been, of course, since they stay away from that sort of info. I thought surely there would be some income info too, but just people, relations and race. I was a bit disenchanted, I guess.

I wish I could be mischevious, I would have entered cats on persons 3, and 4 for mine, and 5-10 for the foster kittens. Ha!

Well, it would appear I've hit my first "bump in the road' during this entire adventure. Everything, from the whole London thing to the receipt of the two year GC, has gone like clockwork thus far, but I sent my ROC to the California Service Center 9 days ago, and according to the online mail tracking system, it still hasn't been ###### delivered!

Oh well, a lot of peeps have been through worse, I suppose (I'm just not used to these problems, you understand).

As you were...........

I think that's why I have reacted so badly to the medical thing for us. No bumps during visa process, I was sure we followed the guides...etc. These sort of things happen to "other" people! How dare they trouble me! ;)

LOL!! My pious, self-righteous reaction exactly!!!

So I checked with the post office in Carbondale, who assured me it had been dispatched to their facility in Laguna Beach. After calling them this morning, and informing the gentleman who picked up the phone of my receipt number, he told me that my package had not yet arrived, despite me sending it 10 days ago. He took my number, and assured me that he'd call me as soon as it arrived, citing "processing delays" as a possible reason for the delay, and saying that it was a very common scenario.

Imagine my surprise then, when I checked my bank statement online today, and discovered that USCIS cashed my check today

An the moral of the story is, never listen to a postal worker's bullsh!t.

Anyway, onwward......

Caught up on reading (finally) -- sounds like a lot of you guys are having to deal with all sorts of horrible hoops, Selina especially. I really hope that gets sorted soon. Grats to Nik+Heather :D I'm glad that they weren't being over-optimistic about when you were getting your green card! And Damien, glad to know that it did get cashed. Boo to the postal worker :P.

Good luck on the job search, for those of you who are looking. Lovelyalex, it did throw me off as well when the applications ask you to put in the salary that you want, but apparently it can be very vital. Knight had a professor who put in something modest on an application some years ago while someone in the same department of where she worked was paid a lot less than the other guy. She was told that that's all she asked for, so that's what she got, but she didn't know it actually worked that way. In the end, they bumped up her paycheck, but she lost out on a lot.

Nich, be nice to your tummy! We can't have you being sicky again, now, can we? I'd be very upset. As for Knight, he gets to pick when he goes out within a year of his swearing in. It'll probably be in September or late August as his step-brother's getting married in August, and San Antonio's meant to be disastrously hot at that time anyhow. I'll use that time in between to just get used to the idea, and I'm toying with the idea of maybe taking a long-distance graphic art degree while he's gone.

Huggums all :D I'll check back later! Sorry if I missed anybody.

Magpie.

I like that way of thinking. LOL. I would be the same way probably.

Ahah, so he's going to miss the Alaskan winter?? Very sneaky. Glad you have two kitties to snuggle with.

I got cleared by the doctor yesterday. I told him I ate two chili dogs and he got an incredulus look on his face, then laughed and said, "well then you're totally well if you did that." So now I'm cleared to eat anything I want, add fiber (which I've been avoiding for a while) and so I can get back to raw veggies, lettuce, things with peeling, broccoli, whole grains. Just have to see if it sits well while my body gets used to the change.

Today was so gorgeous....warm, sunny and windy. We were out in the sports car to Lowe's (home improvement store) this morning. I said, "let's take a road trip with the windows down." So we headed north and it was nice to get out in the countryside and drive fast and play the music loud. The whole trunk (boot) is full of speaker stuff so it was loud. We got into some rolling hills and piney woods. Then we stopped at the giant statue (77 ft?) of Gen. Sam Houston (hero of Texas Independence war and first president of the Republic of Texas) and enjoyed the visitor center. It had a giant veranda porch with a porch swing and we just sat there swingin' and enjoying the beautiful day and the trees budding out in white and lavender flowers. Then we went into Huntsville and ate at homey country cafe. We drove back through the woods, off the interstate, and it was just a swell day. It was kind of a celebration of being well. Wheeeeeee!

So glad that you are feeling better Nich! Texas sounds lovely at this time of the year, we suburban Chicagoans have had pretty descent weather so far, but it is supposed to snow tomorrow :( . We are preparing for the interview on March 30, still no EAD yet, but hopefully it will turn up this week.

Nich, it sounds like you had an awesome day! I'm glad that things have perked up so much for you :D. And yes, Knight will be missing the winter, but Thanksgiving and Christmas along with it :( but it's only a one-time thing. I won't be able to talk to him regularly for eight weeks, so it'll be as many letters as I can write before someone physically pulls me away. After that, he'll hopefully have a laptop and internet so I can talk to him through that, though with my schedule being what it is, I don't know how we'll be able to time it. We'll figure it out though, as we always do :D. Also, I will be down there for his graduation, so I should very much like to see a certain Mama Nich...

Marm, woohoo! Interview's fast approaching, and it'll seem like forever until you get there and then it'll be over quicker than you can blink. :) I wouldn't worry too much about the EAD with the interview being so close. You guys will do fine!

Hugs,

Magpie.

I dunno, Nich; I haven't been arsed reading any of the ROC forum stuff. From what I understand, it's more likely you'll be interviewed if you file alone, but that's fine by me.

I shall keep you posted.

"Card Production Ordered" email #2!

I am now hurrying off to read deep meanings into this.

Edit:

EAD card email 1 on biometrics date - I think it's the "we ordered it"

EAD card email 2 3 days later - I think it's the "we mailed it"

That makes sense given my observations on how long the mail takes. We'll see if I'm right. If so - should be in the mail box by the end of the week! :)

Just checking in to see how everyone is getting on. Glad to see things moving along, slowly but surely for some of you.

I passed my GED test, which is a huge relief as prior to me starting school it was near impossible to find a job without some kind of high school education documents.

This now puts me firmly on course for completing a nursing degree, as it was a pre-req for the nursing program.

Now I just have to get round to letting my hubby take me out driving so I can take my driving test.

Good luck everyone!
