Since we received our interview date for AOS, I am concerned about whether the following is enough for "supporting evidence of relationship":

-Joint bank accounts: savings and checking

-Joint bank safety deposit box

-Joint tax return for the year 2009

-Congrats cards from guests at our reception

-Pictures of the civil marriage ceremony

-Pictures of our wedding reception

-Pictures from our trips to Pakistan and London before the marriage

-Pictures with family/friends in the USA

-Notarized affidavit of living arrangements (because we live with my parents)

-Joint cell phone account

-Joint credit cards

We do not have any utilities on our names since they are on my parents' names. Also, my husband has still not been signed on to the car insurance, this is pending his driver's license examination (the date TBD). And we do not have health insurance at the moment, I am waiting on starting in my new job position and then he will be signed on. I don't know if there will be enough time for me to present the health insurance documents with both our names at the interview since my first day at work is March 22 and the interview is March 30.

So should there be something else we should add to the above list? My husband has given me gifts of expensive jewelry, but I can't think of an official documented way to use this point as evidence. Also, we both buy the groceries for my parents while we are living with them, but again, I can't think of an official documented way to use this point as evidence either.

Any suggestions for us to add stuff to the list would be great! Please let me know everyone! :)

ETA: We do have library cards, the same address on his state i.d. and my driver's license, shopping cards such as JewelOsco, Dominicks, etc. And I have my husband as the emergency contact for my university's emergency contact policy. Both of us has been to the doctor for myself, and I listed my husband's name for the HIPAA release of info forms. I don't know if this stuff will help, also let me know about these please!

Marm, that looks great :D The fact that you're able to demonstrate that you share financial responsibility along with the other evidence you're presenting is a big one. I would also say that talking about everyone in the photos to show that you've got a connection with one another's families helps, too. Don't forget to smile, which I'm sure you will :D.

We do not have any utilities on our names since they are on my parents' names. I don't think this will be an issue. You've got enough evidence in the bag, I suspect, to knock out the USCIS entirely. Keep it in a shiny folder and just stay relaxed during the interview! You have nothing to hide or to fear. It'll be a lot quicker than you think, and I hope you get an interviewer as nice as mine and Knight's was. Don't worry about being chatty -- I think they just want to be sure that you guys are legit, which you are, wholly and truly.

Grats on passing your driving test, Ellie...but it's a bit poo that you have to go deal with InfoPass, rrrr. At least you got over that bump, eh?

Hugs to Nich :D I'm glad you're feeling better, and it'll be a bit yuck for a bit after your next surgery appointment but at least they'll be setting you right again. I think about you lots :luv:.

Wooo, our future sister-in-law and her fiance (technically Knight's step-brother) are moving into a house, so we get their queen-sized bed. Swisssh! We're using a double at the moment, and I've recently gained a tendency to nearly push poor Knight off the bed.

Magpie.

Hi Marm,

I wanted to let you know that my husband doesn't have his license (or learners for that matter) yet here in the US, but I was still able to put his name on my car insurance. He also got his own cards even though he's listed as a "non driver". See if your insurance will add his name to your files, even if he is a non-driver. :) I have mine through Geico, fyi. :) So very excited you got your IL!

Did my Driving test today...

PASSED! BUT!

There was an issue with giving me my driving license card. Apparently USCIS has my maiden name in their database....even though they issued my Greencard in my MARRIED name. That is why my learners permit card was cancelled, because the DMV couldn't match all of my information up.

GRRR. So I have to go and make an infopass appointment to get that changed, then they can issue my license because everything will match. It's a wonder they gave me an SSN when on USCIS' database they have me in my maiden name.

Infopass appointment here I come.

Congrats on passing the test! What would USCIS be without a few mess-ups, eh? :)

Just noticed n someones post that it says....."January 25, 2010: Early Walk-in biometrics completed, EAD approved" i've got my biometrics appointment but its not for like 3 weeks, do you guys know if i can just make an appointment and get it done early?? Will this speed up the process????

Most people who do this do it just as described - they just walk in one day and ask if they can do it now. I think it's a two phase process, the biometrics get ordered automatically when the case is received, and some time later someone touches the case to get EAD rolling. If biometrics are done first, EAD waits on this touch. If the touch goes first, then EAD waits on biometrics. Under usual circumstances you don't know when the EAD gets processed really, so most people get the biometrics out of the way so that they definitely aren't holding things up.

A case will normally go to a local office for processing/interview. It seems like quite a few K1 cases get transferred to the California Service Center instead of a local office. Their GC gets approved without an interview or showing of marriage/relationship evidence. I haven't ever seen it officially explained but speculation is a K1 has had a recent interview to get the visa and it takes the work load off backlogged local offices.

We seem to correlate well with this theory being interviewed for K-1 in June and just now getting through the AOS in March. MARM too, I guess. I sort of thought that might be the case, and I was going to ask until I saw your answer. ;)

I've updated the UK AOS Spreadsheet to put in Snowbunnies' approval. And I added lirwin2000 who has disappeared now. I wonder if she saw all the replies to her post.

To MARM concerning your interview documents...I would be very comfortable with that list of yours if it was me going to an interview. I think it looks exceptionally good. You have about 8 more items than we would have had.

And off topic of AOS, this is a bizarre story. We live in a normal suburban neighborhood with two-story brick houses, grass lawns, flower gardens, paved streets and sidewalks. So a few nights ago, we had a herd of cattle wander down the street. Yes, COWS. We first noticed the 'cow patties' plopped down the sidewalk. Then we found hoof impressions walking over our roses and leaving mulch in the driveway. A neighbor toward the end of the street told me he thought he had a burglar at 4 am, but discovered 7-8 cows grazing in his back yard. So weird! I guess Texas is still the wild west after all.

Did the infopass to change the information on the USCIS database.

Went there, spoke to a guy for about 30 seconds and then left. Apparently USCIS have been screwing up lately with changing peoples maiden names to married ones.

I was the 3rd person that day to have encountered the problem and I arrived 5 minutes after the building had opened.

GRRRR. At least I only had to travel 25 miles to do that!

I got such giggles reading this. COWS! We get moose, but we don't really get herds of 'em grazing in the garden. I've had one dart in front of a friend's car while she was driving, at night, but never a herd...makes me wonder where they all came from!

Grats to Snowbunnies :D woohoo!

I had my interview on Monday and was approved on the spot! I was so nervous but it was such a non event in the end. They kept us waiting for about 40 mins (I think they were spying on us) and then we had about a 5/10 minute chat/run through the standard questions and that was it. I already have received the emails as well saying that the GC is on its way to me. Such a relief! When we got home we had a few days worth of mail to catch up (big storm in NH messed everything up, including the power and phone lines) and got my daughters US passport in the mail as well. Monday was a great day for us!

Congratulations to you guys, woohoo! No USCIS for two years, now...and then you get to remove conditions, woo.

I might have just got my first cold here in Alaska. Throat's burning, nose is runny, and my eyes want to pop out of my head and go running down the road. I can't say that I'm enjoying it much, but good ol' vanilla Roobois tea should kick it out of my system.
