Why isn't the listing for this thread being updated? It just keeps falling farther and farther behind in the forum queue, as if no one had posted in it for days.

hi guys,

Got my EAD finally and have a great job lined up to start asap. can i go ahead and start with the EAD and initial SSN (the one that says "not valid for employment" or sth like that) or do i need to get SSN card updated before starting? Hope someone can help.

Glad to see everyone is settling in :)

Yes, you can work if you have EAD. Just write in you SSN in the paperwork that asks for it. You don't actually have to show the card to anybody. Your number will remain the same.

Did you notice that the thread was moved to a different forum by a mod who didn't actually take credit for it? Anonymous Mod. After 8 months in the other forum, I think the regulars don't know where to find it now.

I also wanted to let people know that Damian P, who actually started this thread lost his wife 10 days ago. I didn't know about it until today. He's my good 'ol VJ buddy back from the UK forum thread. Here's the post that alerted me to his wife's passing. http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=233254

They were married less than 8 months, and her children's father died just last year I think. Very sad for the children as well as Daymo.

(L) Love you Daymo buddy.

Hi all,

Not posted into this thread before and just thought I'd wish all the other UK AOS filers a happy Christmas. I can see that there's plenty of good people on here that go out of their way to help others, you guys rock.

I'm finally getting to relax over the whole AOS filing, we got an RFE requesting an I-693 and thankfully have resolved that without too much problem. I had a horrible feeling that it was going to occur and potentially throw a bit of a cloud over the holidays, but luckily it didn't! And so the process continues rolling.

Have a safe, happy and stress free one.

Thank you Dom and welcome to this thread. I didn't want you to think you were being ignored, but two things have happened...the thread got moved from it's regular place of 8 months, so people aren't finding it where they normally look. And one of our long time VJ friends lost his wife which has shocked us and taken the focus away from saying "hi" to new people. Yes, this is indeed a very nice group of people who try to help each other. If you'd like to be added to our spreadsheet of how long the process has taken people who participate in this thread, you can PM me or post here. This is the spreadsheet that I started http://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=p4x...HVG6dVoxmTGAKEg

It is on Goggle docs and doesn't require a password to open, but only Ellie and I edit it at this time.

You have a good holiday too. I'm glad your RFE is sorted out and hopefully your green card will be coming early in the new year. Please come post again and tell us how it's going.

What Nich said...welcome to the thread, Dom, and yes, we're all a bit shocked about Damian's wifey...

In any case, would suggest that everyone subscribes to this thread in case they move it again. I think that's why I didn't realise it had been moved, and was wondering why nobody was really posting. I was really confused initially before I realised that it had been elsewhere before.

Dom :D I'm sure AOS will be a breeze for you. If you have any questions, let us know, no matter how big or small the issue.

Well, I've spoken to Ewok via PM, and it seems that the VJ powers that be have decreed that the thread belongs here in the progress forum. Apparently it should have been moved before, but it wasn't.

So there we are - here it stays.

John's green card arrived TODAY!! We are happy campers. I'm afraid that when our date gets added into the spreadsheet, though, it will push the average number of days WAY up!

Thanks Nich-Nick, I'd be grateful if you could add me to the spreadsheet.
