Thanks to everyone who answered our questions. Seems like the best way to find out whether to enter seperate or together is to ask the CBP officers prior to getting in line.

Congrats to everyone's recent approvals!

Congrats to everyone's recent approvals!

Congrats on your upcoming POE. It's so exciting to see this part of your journey come to a happy end!

Ian came through Mpls POE and just asked questions of the airport staff/officers as needed. He had questions about customs and his belongings (he didn't have to claim anything) and about which line to stand in, and they were quite helpful.

I'm guessing you can go through the "new immigrant" line together, or they'll direct you otherwise. Not a big deal.

Don't forget your SO's landing card.

What a cool Christmas present. :)

well i just wanted to say hi on the AOS forum... i thought i'd move here from the uk forum, as thats a lot of interview discussion. im just trying to get a feel for what i should be aware of when i apply for AOS :-)

my POE is jan 4th.... im so pumped my boy is coming to "collect" me in 2 weeks! haha... then we'll be getting married jan 9th, and then adjustment of status here we come!!! the crazy thing for me is, i just finished all the paperwork for the K1 process, and i feel like i have a months break to plan the wedding, before all that paperwork process starts again!

the guides for AOS seem pretty complicated to me at the moment, but i think once i read them a few times and read posts in this forum, i'll start to get my head around it all.

does anyone know when i should think about getting a new passport so i can change my name?? would it be better to wait til the green card comes through to get a new passport? or just get a new one as soon as we're married?

thanks jo :-)

Thanks, that marching band is looooooooooooooooooooong overdue

Thanks everyone else on the congrats, I guess by the time we file AOS, it will be the first week of Jan 2010, so we almost barely made it to the 2009 UK AOS thread :)

Hello Jay & Jo---

Here's a summary outline of AOS that other's have said helped them. It's on page 6 of this UK AOS thread, but here's a link

http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...t&p=2821550

And here's the UK AOS timeline spreadsheet. http://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=p4x...HVG6dVoxmTGAKEg

You can just have a look if you're wondering "how long did it take you to get your biometrics appointment?" or questions like that. It's got # days from various points and averages across the top. There's no log-in to look at it.

Remember the sooner you send in AOS, the sooner you can look for a job, get a driver's license, etc. You can start filling in the paperwork now. You can use you're old G25A, but modify it because you will have a new last name, a husband, a former name (maiden), new address, and be unemployed. The VJ guides and examples give you some good examples of the forms. And Magpie would be quick to remind you that on the employment authorization EAD form I-765, the correct answer for #16 is ( C ) ( 9 ) ( )

Good luck to you!

I went through the USC line at O'Hare by myself . At least when I was there (and probably on the 26th too, since it'll be busy) they were directing people to shorter lines rather than by citizenship. So the desks are all set up to handle anybody, it's just a matter of how they're handling it on the day. If you (as the USC) ask the helper person, I'm sure they'll let you go through together - similar situations must happen all the time.

Hard to believe it was almost two years ago but for me, ORD was a really easy, fast and stress-free POE - I hope your experience is the same - you deserve it to be :)

Adjustment of Status from K-1 (Very abridged version)

05/20/08 - POE: Chicago O'Hare

07/18/08 - Married

08/30/08 - I-485/I-765 mailed...

03/17/09 - Card production ordered (no notification received!)

03/26/09 - Green card received (196 days)

Removal of Conditions

02/15/11 - I-751 mailed to VSC...

02/22/11 - NOA1 (received 03/03/11)

04/04/11 - Biometrics appt (notice received 03/19/11)

08/22/11 - * * * t u m b l e w e e d s * * * (T+6 months and counting)

09/20/11 - Service Request #1

10/26/11 - Service Request #2

11/29/11 - Interview @ Atlanta Field Office - Approved & I-551 stamped

12/07/11 - Card production ordered

12/10/11 - Green card received (293 days)
